Arrest Made in Execution-Style Murder of Miami Beach Jet Ski Rental Owner
MIAMI BEACH, FLA. – In a shocking incident that has sent waves through the local community, Joseph Fullwood, 46, has been arrested in connection with the murder of German Amado de la Cruz Jr., the owner of Miami Beach Jet Ski Rentals. The arrest came swiftly after the brutal killing, which occurred on Wednesday evening at de la Cruz’s jet ski repair shop in Brownsville.
According to police reports, de la Cruz was at his business when Fullwood entered, approached him, and shot him execution-style. The chilling crime, captured on surveillance footage, showed Fullwood fleeing the scene on a bicycle immediately after the shooting. A witness, who heard the gunshots, discovered de la Cruz on the ground with a gunshot wound and called 911. Paramedics arrived and transported de la Cruz to Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation moved quickly, with detectives reviewing the surveillance footage and identifying Fullwood as the suspect through a photographic lineup. He was apprehended on Thursday during a traffic stop. During questioning, Fullwood provided inconsistent statements that did not align with the evidence and the surveillance footage. Ultimately, he confessed to the crime in a video-recorded statement.
De la Cruz, well-regarded in the community, had operated his business at the Brownsville warehouse for approximately six years. Ernesto Perdomo, de la Cruz’s father-in-law, spoke to NBC6, expressing his grief and disbelief. “I know he was a good person,” Perdomo said. “He has too many friends, but I don’t know.”
The brazen nature of the crime has left many in shock. Loved ones and community members described de la Cruz as a good person who was well-known in the area. The incident, occurring at point-blank range, underscores the senseless violence that has claimed the life of a beloved business owner.
Joseph Fullwood now faces a second-degree murder charge. Information regarding his attorney was not available at the time of reporting.
The Miami Beach community mourns the loss of German Amado de la Cruz Jr., a man remembered for his kindness and dedication to his business. As the investigation continues, friends and family hope for justice and the healing of a community deeply affected by this tragedy.
