Nashville School Resource Officer Resigns After Investigation Alleges On-Duty Sexual Relationship Inside School and Police Vehicles

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A former Metro Nashville Police Department school resource officer has resigned following an internal investigation that concluded she engaged in an extramarital sexual relationship with another police officer while both were on duty, including inside a middle school, police facilities, and a marked patrol vehicle.

The investigation, conducted by the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Office of Professional Accountability (OPA), describes a pattern of misconduct that investigators say violated multiple departmental policies and ultimately led to the officer’s resignation.

Internal Investigation Details Alleged Misconduct

According to the OPA report, Officer Lisa Vidrios, 37, began an inappropriate relationship with an unnamed Metro Nashville police officer in May 2024. Investigators allege the relationship extended beyond off duty conduct and included multiple sexual encounters while both officers were actively working.

The report states that some of those encounters occurred inside Vidrios’ assigned School Resource Officer office at Madison Middle School while students were present elsewhere on campus. Additional incidents allegedly occurred inside Metro government facilities and inside the veteran officer’s marked police cruiser. The internal investigation reportedly included explicit videos, photographs, text message conversations, and admissions made by Vidrios during an official interview.

Officer Was Considered a Rising Member of the Department

Vidrios served nine years in the U.S. Marine Corps before transitioning to law enforcement. She later joined the Metro Nashville Police Department after transferring from the San Diego Police Department and graduated from the Metro Police Academy in 2022. Department officials had viewed her as one of the academy’s standout recruits, selecting her to represent her graduating class during commencement ceremonies. Her husband also serves as an officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Veteran Officer Also Under Investigation

The second officer involved has not been publicly identified. According to the OPA report, he is an 18 year veteran of the department. Investigators were unable to complete a formal interview after he was placed on medical leave during the investigation. He was later approved for a permanent medical disability pension related to a previously sustained on duty injury that was unrelated to the misconduct investigation. The report states that if he ever seeks to return to active law enforcement service with the department, investigators intend to immediately question him regarding the allegations.

Department Removed Both Officers From Duty

Metro Nashville Police moved quickly after learning of the allegations. On May 26, 2025, both officers were decommissioned, stripped of their police authority, and blocked from accessing department facilities and computer systems while the investigation proceeded. Vidrios later agreed to accept a 30-day disciplinary suspension before submitting her resignation from the department.

Accountability Emphasized by City Officials

Following publication of the investigation, Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s office emphasized that law enforcement officers are expected to uphold the highest professional standards.

“The mayor is consistent; our first responders are held to the highest standard. When they don’t meet that, it’s not acceptable,” a spokesperson for the mayor’s office said in a statement.

Public Trust at the Center of the Case

The case has generated significant attention because it involves a School Resource Officer entrusted with protecting students inside a public school. School Resource Officers occupy highly visible positions within communities and are expected to maintain professional conduct while working closely with students, educators, and parents.

While the investigation focused on violations of departmental policy, the allegations have also raised broader questions about internal oversight, supervision, and accountability within the Metro Nashville Police Department. The Office of Professional Accountability’s findings conclude one portion of the department’s internal disciplinary process, although the veteran officer’s involvement remains unresolved pending any future opportunity for investigators to formally interview him.
