Iranian Threat Against Trump’s Son Barron
The U.S. Secret Service has confirmed that it is aware of an Iranian state media video that appears to threaten the life of Barron Trump, the 20 year old son of President Donald Trump.
The agency said it is reviewing the material as part of its responsibility to investigate potential threats against people under its protection.
“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” Secret Service spokesman Nate Herring said in a statement. “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”
The statement comes after Iranian state media aired a roughly three minute segment that appeared to focus on finding and potentially targeting Barron Trump. The video reportedly included a graphic reading “Where to Kill Barron Trump” and referenced locations associated with the president’s son, including New York University and Trump Tower.
The broadcast also claimed that Barron was being monitored and suggested that a $10 million reward was connected to an attack against him. However, those claims have not been independently verified, and there is no public evidence establishing that Barron is actually under surveillance or that the reported bounty represents a confirmed Iranian government operation.
The Secret Service has not disclosed whether the video has resulted in any changes to Barron Trump’s security arrangements. The agency routinely declines to discuss specific protective intelligence or operational decisions because doing so could compromise security measures.
The reported threat comes amid extraordinarily high tensions between the United States and Iran. Iranian media outlets have previously circulated threats involving President Trump and other members of his family. A separate video released in July focused on First Lady Melania Trump and reportedly highlighted locations and potential vulnerabilities associated with her security.
The threats against the Trump family have intensified during the broader U.S. and Iran conflict. Iranian media and political figures have repeatedly portrayed President Trump and members of his family as targets for retaliation.
U.S. officials have previously acknowledged the seriousness of threats originating from Iran. Secret Service Deputy Director Matt Quinn said last month that Iran has publicly expressed a desire to kill President Trump.
“I don’t think it’s any secret, it’s been in the media, that Iran has publicly said they want to kill President Trump,” Quinn said.
The latest video has therefore drawn particular attention because it targets Barron Trump directly. Unlike the president and first lady, Barron generally maintains a substantially lower public profile, although his status as the president’s son makes him a protected member of the first family.
For now, the Secret Service has offered no public assessment of whether the Iranian broadcast represents a credible operational threat. The agency’s confirmation that it is aware of the material does not by itself establish that an attack is being planned or that Iranian operatives have successfully penetrated Barron Trump’s security.
That distinction is important. The reported video contains serious and disturbing allegations, but publicly available information does not establish that the individuals behind the broadcast have access to Barron Trump or have developed a viable plan to harm him.
The Secret Service has said only that it is investigating anything that could be perceived as a threat to its protectees, while withholding further information because of operational security concerns.
As the investigation continues, federal authorities are expected to closely monitor the Iranian material and any related threats. Any determination about the credibility of the threat, potential suspects or changes to Barron Trump’s protection would likely remain classified unless authorities determine that disclosure is necessary.
