Kinley Rasmus continues to make history at the 2026 Little League Baseball World Series. The 12-year-old shortstop and pitcher from Phenix City, Alabama, broke the Little League World Series record for most total hits by a girl Tuesday, collecting her fifth hit of the tournament during Phenix City’s 4-2 victory over Tacoma, Washington.
Rasmus delivered the record setting hit in the fifth inning, helping Phenix City win its third consecutive game and keep its run through the tournament alive. With the victory, Phenix City advanced to an elimination game Wednesday, giving Rasmus another opportunity to add to her growing list of accomplishments in Williamsport.
Rasmus had already made history on the mound before setting the new hitting mark. One day earlier, she tied the Little League World Series record for total strikeouts by a girl. Rasmus recorded six strikeouts in Phenix City’s victory over Pennsylvania, bringing her tournament total to 14.
Her strikeout total came after an impressive opening round performance against Tacoma. Despite Phenix City’s loss, Rasmus dominated from the mound, allowing just one hit while throwing six scoreless innings and striking out eight batters.
Those eight strikeouts tied the girls’ Little League World Series single game record previously established by Mo’ne Davis.
Now, Rasmus has added another record to her name. As one of only two girls competing in this year’s tournament, her performances have become one of the major storylines of the 2026 Little League World Series. She has contributed in virtually every aspect of the game, making an impact both as a pitcher and a hitter while helping Phenix City fight through the tournament.
Rasmus’ historic tournament is also notable because of her baseball family background. She is the daughter of former Major League Baseball pitcher Cory Rasmus, who pitched in the majors during his professional career.
At just 12 years old, Kinley is already putting her own name in the Little League World Series record book.
With another elimination game ahead, the Alabama standout has a chance to continue adding to her impressive totals and potentially make even more history before Phenix City’s 2026 Little League World Series run comes to an end.
