Actor James Ransone, best known for his role as Ziggy Sobotka on HBO’s The Wire, has died at the age of 46, authorities confirmed.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, Ransone’s death has been ruled a suicide. The Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded to a residence, conducted an investigation, and found no evidence of foul play.
Ransone began his career in the early 2000s with television appearances that included Ed and Third Watch. He gained wide recognition in 2003 for his work on The Wire, appearing in all 12 episodes of the show’s second season.
