If you are in the mood for some sun and fun, I highly recommend coming to South Florida.  There is so much to do here.  You will not be bored, and you will definitely not run out of things to do.  You will have a different and exciting outing to take every day that you are here.  Whether you are traveling with your family, having a girl’s trip, or doing a guy’s weekend out there is something here for everyone at your party.

If you are traveling with your family and have children who are nature lovers, then the Flamingo Gardens is a place to go.  The Flamingo Gardens are located at 3750 South Flamingo Road, Davie, Florida 33330.  Tickets are reasonably priced and can be purchased here.  The Gardens are open Monday through Sunday.  There hours of operation are from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Flamingo Gardens covers sixty (60) acres of beautiful, lush, tropical land.  Here you will find over 3,000 distinct types of plants that are either rare, exotic, tropical, subtropical, or native to the state of Florida.  Besides the flamingoes, you will also be able to spot some other native creatures of Florida.  Keep your eyes out for alligators, bobcats, otters, eagles, bears, panthers, and peacocks with some even being albino!

Those are quite the sight to see.  The gardens here have been a sight to see and visit since 1933 when Floyd and Jane Wray started the property as their home and a citrus grove.  The house is still on the property and shows how the house was back in the 1930’s as a museum.  Some of the trees on the property, according to the Florida Forest Service, are the largest of their kind.  They come in quite handy since there are also over 250 birds that are flying free range around the property.  They all have a place to call home.  The Flamingo Gardens offer a tram tour around the property that is narrated by experienced and extremely knowledgeable staff.  It takes roughly 25 minutes and runs every 30 minutes.  That way if you miss something, you can always go on it again.  The Flamingo Café is on sight to make sure you and your crew do not go hungry or dehydrate.  They offer a variety of sandwiches, snacks, and smoothies as well as other items to eat or drink as you take in the sights and relax for a minute.  Don’t forget to hit up the gift shop on your way out so you will always have something to remember the Flamingo Gardens.

Ladies!!! A girl’s trip is always fun and mostly needed to regain your sanity.  Why not come to Fort Lauderdale and soak up everything it has to offer.  Some of you are moms who need a break from mommy duty.  Some are professional businesswomen who need a break from their daily schedule.  Some of you are both and just need a break!  Whatever your reason, we understand and so does Fort Lauderdale.  I highly recommend taking a day just to sit either by the pool or on the beach.  You will definitely find your inner and outer peace enjoying the relaxing sounds of the water splashing and the waves coming in.  Plus, you will get your daily dose of Vitamin D from the Florida sunshine.  Two of the best hotels to relax beach and poolside are the Four Seasons or the Ritz-Carlton.  There are plenty of other hotel options available in the area for every budget!  Another outing you and your girls can take are one of the many yachting expeditions in the area.  You can book through Anticipation Luxury Yacht Charters and Dinner Cruises, Coastal Yacht Tours, Sun Dream Yacht Charters, Jungle Queen or Carrie B Cruises.  Each company will be able to give you a package that is comfortable for your budget.

Sometimes you cannot put a price on your sanity, but you may want to budget for the entire weekend.  If bar hopping is something you want to indulge in, they have water taxis for you to use to get around to the different bars and breweries.  See the guy’s paragraph for a list of the best breweries Fort Lauderdale has to offer you.  If you are an early bird, one of the most beautiful things you can see while you are in Florida is the sunrise.  I know people say their area has the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, but Florida’s are pretty spectacular.  They are painted in a range of colors from yellow, orange, pink, purple and blue.  Red sometimes even pops into the sunrise to let us know that it is going to be an extremely hot day.  No matter what you do in Fort Lauderdale, the most important thing is that you have fun, make memories, and make Fort Lauderdale a yearly getaway for you and your girls.  You may even want to bring the rest of your family sometime.

If you and your guys are getting together for a weekend away from everything, we suggest you going to the local breweries all around Fort Lauderdale.  Maybe even do a pub crawl around the area.  Just make sure you have a secure, dependable mode of transportation.  After all, who doesn’t love an excellent, locally crafted brew?
