According to the Kent and Medway Coroner Service, Bennett died on May 29 in Meopham, Kent. An inquest into her death was formally opened on July 3, but the hearing was adjourned while investigators continue gathering evidence. A full inquest is expected to take place at a later date.

A Voice Behind One of the Biggest Pop Songs of the 2010s
Bennett rose to international fame in 2011 after providing the vocals on LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” one of the decade’s biggest dance hits. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks and became a global phenomenon, earning billions of streams and remaining a staple at sporting events, parties, and celebrations around the world.
Before achieving mainstream success, Bennett competed on the British television talent competition The X Factor and later joined the pop group Paradiso Girls. She also worked with several high profile artists throughout her career, including CeeLo Green and will.i.am.
In 2013, Bennett became a founding member of G.R.L., the girl group created by Robin Antin, the founder of the Pussycat Dolls. The group gained recognition with singles including “Ugly Heart,” “Show Me What You Got,” and “Lighthouse.”
A Life Beyond the Spotlight
Outside of music, Bennett was devoted to her family. She shared a daughter, Harlow, with longtime partner Kenny Wormald, an actor and dancer known for starring in the 2011 remake of Footloose.
Following news of her death, tributes poured in from fans and fellow musicians who remembered Bennett not only for her vocal talent but also for her warmth and kindness. Members of G.R.L. honored their late bandmate with heartfelt messages celebrating her friendship, humor, and lasting impact on their lives.
Her death marks another tragedy for the group, which previously lost member Simone Battle in 2014. That loss led the group to temporarily disband before eventually reuniting.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
While speculation has circulated online regarding Bennett’s death, authorities have not confirmed any medical or other cause. Under England’s legal system, a coroner’s inquest is conducted when additional investigation is needed to determine how someone died.
Until the inquest concludes and official findings are released, the circumstances surrounding Lauren Bennett’s death remain unknown.
Fans around the world continue to celebrate Bennett’s musical legacy, remembering the voice that helped define one of the most recognizable pop anthems of the 2010s while awaiting answers from investigators.
