iHeartRadio Cancels Miami’s Jingle Ball of 2021

iHeartRadio Cancels Miami’s Jingle Ball of 2021

New York’s radio station, Z100, started the Jingle Ball tradition over twenty years ago.  Z100 was the most listened to radio station in the country.  When they introduced Jingle Ball, they made sure they had the year’s top artists performing their number one hit songs of the year.  The Jingle Ball was held year after year all over the United States.  Everyone looked forward to this event.  Tickets would sell out almost immediately.  Then it expanded into a globally known event with multiple city tour stops with must see appearances by the biggest artists of the year that you’ve been listening to and memorizing all of their lyrics.  The artists, as well as the fans, looked forward to this event all year long.

Then here comes 2020 and messes everything up.  COVID-19 was introduced into our lives and shut everything down.  Life as we knew it came to a screeching halt.  No restaurants were open.  Families could not even get together for the holidays.  Senior citizens were stuck in nursing homes with no visitors.  All social events were canceled due to the fear of what COVID-19 might bring.  The CDC ran tests for months and advised us to social distance, stay home and wear a mask if you must go out.  Everything was now done online, including doctor’s appointments.  Being on lock down for almost a year and a half affected everyone’s mental health.

After the type of year 2020 was, people all over the United States were looking to regain some normalcy in their lives.  Mental health was a front runner in the news now since lock down seemed like it lasted forever.  Then somehow, COVID-19 mutated and caused another round of panic among people.  Social distancing was in full affect again.  Masks were mandated.  People were urged to stay home again!  This time around though, we have been armed with a vaccine against COVID-19.  Thankfully, many people got their vaccine and people were protected against the deadly disease.

Fast forward to 2021 and COVID-19 mutated yet again!  Seriously, people need to get this under control already.  Normal routines are now online doctor’s appointments, masks on everywhere you go and not being able to hug someone you love because you’re afraid you or they will get sick.  Social events were had but since this new mutation has arrived, people are worried again.  The Jingle Ball in Miami was no exception to that fear.  Florida has been known to have numerous outbreaks of COVID-19 due to the fact that so many people come to Florida for the weather and social events of the year!

Y100 Miami made an announcement on Twitter on Sunday morning.  It was not good news to a lot of people.  “Due to the increased transmission of the new Covid-19 variant and to further minimize any potential risks, as a precautionary measure and for the safety of our staff, talent and guests, we have made the decision to cancel tonight’s iHeartRadio Y100 Jingle Ball,” iHeartRadio said in a statement.  “Thank you for your understanding.  Ticket holders will receive a refund within 48 hours and if they have any issues, they should reach out to their point of purchase,” iHeartRadio said.

Sean Paul, Black Eyed Peas, Saweetie, Anitta, Bazzi, Dixie D’Amelio, Monsta X and Tai Verdes were scheduled to perform in Miami’s Jingle Ball 2021.  Due to the new COVID-19 mutation Omicrom, the performance was canceled.  Some performers of other shows had tested positive for COVID-19 while others had staff that was always with them test positive for COVID-19.  The performers want to keep themselves, the staff and the fans healthy and free from COVID-19.  While that is the right thing to do in most people’s eyes, the fans were very disappointed.  They were looking forward to getting dressed up in their best holiday outfits and going out with friends and family that they have not seen in over a year.  COVID-19 has successfully ruined another event that we have all been looking forward to.  As if 2020 didn’t suck enough, 2021 had to be a repeat offender!

Let us just all hope that 2022 will be the better year of the last three we have gone through.  We all understand the importance of wearing a mask, social distancing and getting vaccinated but enough is enough already.  The Jingle Ball was an iconic event that many people were needing and wanting to go to.  We have all been cooped up in our houses with people that we have seen enough of already. Everyone, keep your finger’s crossed that 2022 will be COVID-19 free and no social events will be canceled.  We need to be social.  We were not made to stay inside for two years in a row.

Even though the last stop of the 2021 Jingle Ball tour was canceled in Miami, you can still watch the rest of the city stops that were able to go on as scheduled.  You will be able to see Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, The Kid LAROI, AJR, Tate McRae, Bazzi, Dixie D’Amelio, Ed Sheeran, BTS, Black Eyed Peas, Saweetie, Pitbull, Tai Verdes, Sean Paul, Anitta, The Jonas Brothers, Kane Brown, Big Time Rush, Monsta X and Megan Thee Stallion.  If you missed their live performances in person, you can still see them on television in the comfort of your own home.  Tune into The CW Network on Christmas Day, Saturday, December 25th at 8pm ET/PT.  Check your local listings for the exact channel number. Then and there you will be able to see all of your favorite artists from 2021 perform their hit singles as well as some Christmas classics they put their twist on.

Believe me, this is not something you will want to miss a second time around.  Take advantage of the airing on television because you never know what life will throw at you in the next year.  Let us all just hope it is filled with positive vibes and a lot of outdoor concerts.  We could all use the fresh air and music therapy that we all use to get through life issues.
