Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Defamation Trial – Spring 2022

johnny-depp-amber-heard-chocolate-factory-memeIf you have not been watching the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation trial then you have no idea what you have been missing! What a complete and total shit show! So basically Johnny Depp had a relationship with the very beautiful and much younger Amber Heard. She was clearly head over heels in love with him and he was clearly a douche boyfriend. Let’s just say that to start. But, instead of breaking up, they end up in this torturous never-ending tit-for-tat domestic violence-riddled relationship. Where literally anything that could happen, did happen. Including but not limited to throwing glass bottles at each other, pooping in the bed, and of course cutting the tip of Johnny Depp’s finger off. As if all this wasn’t bad enough Amber Herd, clearly hurt and traumatized by the relationship, and with the help of the ACLU penned an op-ed in the Washington Post. Not naming Johnny Depp directly, but calling her last boyfriend, whom everyone knew was Johnny Depp, a violent abuser.

Johnny Depp may actually be most of these things Amber Heard has claimed but the problem for Heard is that she is those things too and in fact may have oftentimes even been the aggressor and had the worst outbursts. So it feels disingenuous and dishonest when she claims to be an innocent victim. I mean she literally cut the poor guy’s finger off by throwing a handle bottle of vodka at him. The truth is they were both toxic and their relationship was toxic too. Depp claims the op-ed led to him losing his starring role in the popular Disney franchise Pirates of the Caribbean and has sued Heard for Defamation to the tune of a whopping $50 million dollars. Though Heard was clearly wrong for writing the op-ed about Johnny. It’s unclear if Disney really fired him for this one article or a host of other things. It is also unclear if the jury will award a settlement to a person who also actively participated in all the fighting and abuse.

The best parts of the trial though, bar none, have been Depp just toying with the defense lawyer. You can see that the defense lawyer is a complete and total normal everyday guy. Johnny’s star power and acting finesse seem like a lot for the local lawyer to handle. Plus this is probably the biggest moment in this lawyer’s career and for Depp it’s just another five minutes in front of the camera. So he is loose as a goose and having fun with it, you can tell. Below is a video of how Johnny Depp has been acting in court so you can see for yourself. It’s really funny! It’s as if Jack Sparrow himself is on trial and you can see how Depp has almost become Sparrow from playing him so much in the Disney movies. Maybe after this great performance Disney with bring him back for another movie. That would be an epic happy ending for everyone!
