Lil Wayne Cancels Toronto Concert
Rapper Lil Wayne canceled his scheduled performance at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage on Monday, August 11, citing an “unforeseen illness.” The announcement came approximately an hour before the show was set to begin, leaving many fans already inside the venue. The venue posted the cancellation notice on social media shortly before 8 p.m., stating, “Due to unforeseen illness, Wayne’s Toronto show tonight will be postponed.” The message emphasized that the rapper was eager to perform and that all previously purchased tickets would be honored for the rescheduled date. However, no new date has been announced yet.
Fans expressed frustration over the timing of the announcement, especially after having already entered the venue. One attendee remarked on social media, “Hold on. They let man’s into Budweiser to buy overpriced drinks and merch, to then tell them Lil Wayne is ill and the show will be postponed????? Actually??? That can’t be right,” while another questioned the fairness of the situation, stating, “Cancelling this late, when everyone is already there, should result in compensation from the artist. Imagine travelling in for this for no reason.”
The Toronto show was part of Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter VI Tour,” which began on August 1 in Virginia Beach and is scheduled to conclude on October 2 in West Palm Beach, Florida. The tour features special guests like French Montana, Tyga, and NoCap, with Belly Gang Kushington appearing throughout. As of now, Lil Wayne’s representatives have not released additional information regarding the nature of the illness or the cancellation. The artist has a history of health issues; in 2012, he suffered multiple seizures during flights, leading to emergency landings and subsequent hospitalization. Fans are advised to monitor official channels for updates on the rescheduled date and further information.
