Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales, winners of Season 7 of Peacock’s Love Island USA, have officially called it quits just days after the reunion episode aired. The couple, who became fan favorites in the villa earlier this summer, confirmed the split on social media following days of speculation. Amaya was the first to address the breakup in a lengthy Instagram Story on August 27, writing, “After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys. Our visions didn’t align and relationships are supposed to be a team sport. You don’t have to drink the whole sea to know it’s salty.” She ended her message by wishing Bryan well, emphasizing that there was no animosity between them.
Signs of trouble had already been noticed by fans when the pair unfollowed each other on Instagram just hours before the reunion special aired on August 25. During that reunion, Bryan addressed cheating rumors after a video surfaced of him at a nightclub with several women. He defended himself by saying it was a work-related situation and admitted it was a “lapse in judgment,” but denied being unfaithful. At the time, Amaya publicly supported him, telling the audience, “If I’m with him, it’s clearly because the relationship dynamic is healthy and great.”
Two days later, however, Amaya made it clear that things had unraveled quickly once they were back in the real world. Following her statement, Bryan released one of his own, confirming that the couple had decided to separate. “Amaya and I have decided to go our separate ways. Unfortunately, we were not on the same page, and that is OK. I am thankful for the time we have spent together and I wish her nothing but the best moving forward,” he wrote on Instagram.
Their breakup comes just over a month after they won Love Island USA and left the villa as one of the strongest couples of the season. Both have framed the split as a matter of differing life goals rather than betrayal, showing a rare level of maturity for a reality TV breakup. While fans of the show expressed disappointment across social media, Amaya and Bryan have both made it clear they are moving forward on separate paths with mutual respect.
