We all love the holidays. Christmas literally comes once a year. We get to bake cookies for Santa Claus. We get to decorate the tree with our loved ones. It kicks off the holiday season in South Florida. That activity is the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade which is sponsored by the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino! It has been hailed as the “Best Show on H2O.”
Let’s face it, after the year we all had last year, we need this parade. We need these festivities. We need to forget about our troubles for a little while and take in the sights like when we were kids. Remember how everything seemed so bright, colorful, and huge during Christmas time? The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade will not let you down. The Grand Marshall of this year’s parade is none other than Mario Lopez! You may remember him from Saved By The Bell as A.C. Slater. The Belle of the Ball is Renee Korbel Quinn and the Commodore is Shane Strum. This parade will be televised by WSVN Channel 7 News. Millions will be able to watch this parade from the comfort of their living room.
Patrick Zarrelli and the team at SFL Media will have their mega yacht in this year’s parade. The mega yacht, Miss Direction, will be decorated in the theme of the Grinch from Dr. Seuss. Even though the mega yacht is 108 feet long, you will not be able to miss the eleven-foot tall Grinch that will be aboard the Miss Direction. There will be a live band plus a DJ. The company will be hosting their 2021 Christmas party aboard the Miss Direction during the parade. Let’s just hope the Grinch doesn’t do anything crazy like unplug the DJ, drink all the drinks, or take the team’s presents. We all know from the books and the movies that the Grinch is usually up to no good! So keep an eye on your gifts, food, and drinks!
This holiday parade has been known to attract people from all over the world. If you have never been to this parade, you may want to pencil it in on your calendar. Saturday, December 11, 2021, is the day. There will be a bunch of festivities that will kick off the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade at 4:00 pm at 512 NE 3rd Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. There will be a student art contest, Junior Captain program, shoreline decorating, and an all-around family fun day.
There will be a pre-show at 6:00 pm to see all of the non-motorized vessels that are participating in the festivities. The parade itself will start at 6:30 pm. It will start at the Stranahan House, go east along New River to Intracoastal Waterway. It will keep heading north to Lake Santa Barbara located in Pompano Beach. That is twelve beautiful miles of South Florida waterways for the beautifully decorated vessels of all sizes to float on so you can enjoy the lights, music, decorations, and celebrities. This parade is the 7th largest spectator event in the country and has also been voted as one of the top 20 parades in the world as reported by USA Today.
The boats and massive yachts will be cheerfully decorated this year. There will be vessels of all shapes and sizes participating in this year’s Winterfest Boat Parade. There will be kayaks, sailboats, barges and mega yachts all decked out in the latest and greatest holiday decorations. There will be so many vessels with lights that you will be able to see the Christmas lights from outer space! (Hopefully) There is a parade viewing area located at the Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park which is located at 300 Las Olas Circle, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children ten years old and younger.
