Brett James Dies in Plane Crash
The country music world is mourning the loss of Grammy-winning songwriter Brett James, who died Thursday, September 18, in a small plane crash in Franklin, North Carolina. James, 57, was one of three people killed when a Cirrus SR22T aircraft went down near Iotla Valley Elementary School. Federal officials confirmed there were no survivors.
The Crash
The aircraft, registered to James, had departed from John C. Tune Airport in Nashville earlier that day before crashing around 3:00 p.m. local time. Authorities identified the other victims as Melody Carole and Meryl Maxwell Wilson.
