Baseball’s brightest stars are set to descend upon Atlanta, as the 95th MLB All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 15, at Truist Park — marking the first time since 2000 that Atlanta has hosted the Midsummer Classic, and the very first at the Braves’ state-of-the-art home since it opened in 2017. The week-long celebration of baseball begins July 11 and builds to a highly anticipated showdown between the American League and National League, with the NL seeking just its second win since 2013 and the AL aiming to continue its dominance.
The fans helped shape the rosters, with the first phase of voting crowning two global superstars as top vote-getters: Aaron Judge (Yankees) and Shohei Ohtani (Dodgers). Both automatically earned starting spots — Judge in the outfield and Ohtani at designated hitter.
The final rosters showcase both established legends and fresh faces. The Dodgers lead all clubs with five selections, while the Tigers and Mariners each boast four. Detroit and Los Angeles each have three starters, with the Chicago Cubs contributing two. Remarkably, 19 players will make their All-Star debut, including four named to the starting lineup: Cal Raleigh (SEA), Jacob Wilson (OAK), Ryan O’Hearn (BAL), and Pete Crow-Armstrong (CHC). Adding a historic note, Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw was named to his 11th All-Star team as a special commissioner’s selection.

Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts, fresh off guiding Los Angeles to a World Series title, will manage the National League team for the fourth time (previously in 2018, 2019, and 2021). Across the diamond, Yankees manager Aaron Boone will make his managerial debut in the Midsummer Classic after leading the Yankees to the AL pennant.
Hall of Famer Joe Torre, who managed the Yankees to four World Series championships, will serve as an honorary coach for the AL, joined by Guardians manager Stephen Vogt. On the NL side, Braves manager Brian Snitker and Marlins manager Clayton McCullough will take on honorary coaching roles.
The pitching matchup offers an intriguing blend of experience and emerging stardom. Detroit’s Tarik Skubal, the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, will be the first Tigers pitcher to start an All-Star Game since Max Scherzer in 2013. For the NL, 23-year-old Paul Skenes of the Pirates makes history as the youngest pitcher ever to start consecutive All-Star Games, reflecting his meteoric rise as one of baseball’s most electrifying arms.
This year’s All-Star Game will debut MLB’s automated ball-strike (ABS) challenge system, powered by T-Mobile’s 5G network. Each team begins with two challenges, which are retained if successful. Challenges can only be initiated by the pitcher, catcher, or hitter — without input from the dugout — by tapping their cap or helmet to alert the umpire. The system, tested during Spring Training, promises to add strategy, drama, and a fresh layer of intrigue to the Midsummer Classic.
