The Miami Heat put together one of their most complete offensive performances of the season Tuesday night, rolling past the Sacramento Kings 130-117 for a convincing road win.
Bam Adebayo led the way with 25 points, while Norman Powell added 22 as Miami never let Sacramento seriously threaten in the second half. The Heat have now won three of their last five games and led by double digits for the entire fourth quarter in this one, showcasing sharp shooting and steady control despite being shorthanded.
Andrew Wiggins chipped in 19 points, Pelle Larsson finished with 16 points and a team-high nine assists, and Simone Fontecchio provided a spark off the bench with 15 points on five 3-pointers. Miami was lights-out from deep, shooting 50% from 3-point range and knocking down 21 of 42 attempts.
The Heat were without two key rotation players, as guard Tyler Herro (ribs) and center Kel’el Ware (hamstring) both missed the game. It marked the first absence of the season for Ware, who is averaging a team-high 9.8 rebounds. Miami didn’t miss a beat, however, leaning on ball movement and perimeter shooting to compensate.
The tone was set early. Miami surged to a 77-64 halftime lead behind a massive 45-point second quarter that included nine made 3-pointers. The Heat hit 15 of 24 shots from beyond the arc before the break, good for a blistering 62.5%, and never relinquished control.
For Sacramento, DeMar DeRozan paced the offense with 23 points, while Russell Westbrook added 22 on an efficient 9-of-14 shooting night. Malik Monk scored 18 points, and Dylan Cardwell pulled down 12 rebounds. Still, the Kings couldn’t keep up with Miami’s shooting barrage and have now dropped two straight games after previously winning a season-high four in a row.
The victory also snapped a four-game road losing streak for the Heat, with each of those losses coming by at least 12 points. Miami will look to build on the momentum Thursday night in Portland. The Kings return home to host Toronto on Wednesday.
