One Dead, Four Injured in Drive-By Shooting in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale, FL – A drive-by shooting on Friday night in Fort Lauderdale resulted in one man’s death and left four others injured, one of whom remains in critical condition. The incident took place in the Franklin Park community, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood.

Detective Ali Adamson, spokesperson for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, confirmed the fatality and the conditions of the injured victims. “One victim is in critical condition, and the other three are currently in stable condition and expected to survive,” Adamson stated in an official release.

The shooting occurred around 7:10 p.m. on Northwest Eighth Street near 22 Road. Police officers quickly responded to the scene, finding five victims who had been struck by gunfire. Fire rescue personnel transported all five to Broward Health Medical Center.

The man who succumbed to his injuries was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arrival. His identity, along with those of the other victims, has not yet been released pending notification of their families.

“This incident appears to have been a drive-by shooting,” Detective Adamson confirmed, though further details about the suspects or the vehicle involved were not disclosed.

Residents of the Franklin Park community expressed their shock and concern over the violence. “It’s terrifying to think something like this can happen right outside your door,” said one local resident who wished to remain anonymous. “We need more security and better policing in our neighborhood.”

Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are seeking leads that could help identify and apprehend those responsible.
