Fort Lauderdale Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Beach Parking Garage Shooters

Fort Lauderdale Police Turn to Public in Search for Beach Parking Garage Shooters

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Police are asking for the public’s help after exhausting all investigative leads in a June 22 triple shooting that took place atop a Fort Lauderdale Beach parking garage. The incident, which unfolded at approximately 1:30 a.m. at 200 Las Olas Circle, left three young people wounded one of them critically.

Surveillance Video Shows Masked Suspects

Video footage obtained from the rooftop of the garage an area often frequented by local youth on weekend nights captured three individuals police believe were involved in the shooting. Two suspects were seen wearing masks, while a third appeared to be peering into a parked vehicle just before gunfire erupted. According to Fort Lauderdale Police Department spokesperson Casey Liening, detectives have followed every lead available since the shooting occurred but have so far failed to identify the assailants.

“We’ve reached a point in the investigation where we need the community’s help,” Liening said. “This was a brazen act of violence that occurred in a public space, and someone out there knows something.”

911 Calls Paint Picture of Chaos

Newly released 911 recordings from the night of the shooting reveal a flurry of panic from multiple callers who reported hearing gunfire. Some described people screaming and cars speeding away from the scene. Police say the three victims were standing with a group of friends on the rooftop when the suspects approached and opened fire. Three people were driven to the hospital in personal vehicles. Two of the victims, identified only as an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old, were treated and released the same day. A third victim, 18-year-old Richard Murray, sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center. He has since undergone multiple surgeries.

Victim Was Celebrating Friend’s Military Deployment

Richard Murray’s mother told Local 10 News that her son had been out celebrating with friends before the shooting occurred.

“They were at their cars and just dancing and celebrating her, because she’s leaving,” she said, referring to a friend who was about to deploy with the military. “We need someone to come forth and give us answers. We don’t have any answers.”

Community Offers Reward for Information

The Uvalde Foundation for Kids, a national nonprofit focused on preventing youth violence, has offered a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

The organization called the shooting “an unacceptable act of violence that endangered the lives of young people in our community.”

In addition to the foundation’s reward, Broward Crime Stoppers is also offering compensation for tips. Anyone with information is urged to contact them at 954-493-TIPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous. Fort Lauderdale police continue to investigate and urge witnesses or anyone who was in the area that night to come forward. As of now, no arrests have been made.
