The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to surge at the right time, and once again it was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading the charge.
Gilgeous-Alexander poured in 40 points Tuesday night, lifting Oklahoma City to a 113-108 victory over the Orlando Magic for their 10th consecutive win. The All-Star guard delivered another efficient performance, shooting 14-for-27 from the field, knocking down 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and going 9-of-11 from the free-throw line.
His biggest shot came late in the fourth quarter—a clutch three-pointer with 3:11 remaining that pushed the Thunder lead to 102-96 and helped seal the win. Along the way, Gilgeous-Alexander extended his remarkable consistency, recording his 129th straight game with at least 20 points and stretching his NBA-record road streak to 61 games.
Oklahoma City got strong support from Chet Holmgren, who finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds, showcasing his versatility with multiple highlight dunks and a smooth midrange jumper. Rookie Ajay Mitchell added 16 points, including five crucial points during a decisive mid-fourth quarter run that gave the Thunder the lead for good. Isaiah Joe also chipped in with a timely three-pointer during that stretch.
The Thunder appeared in control early, using a dominant 19-5 run to open the second quarter and build a 45-27 lead—the largest margin of the night. But Orlando responded with resilience.
Paolo Banchero led the charge for the Magic with a stellar all-around performance, finishing with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Jalen Suggs contributed 14 points, while Jevon Carter sparked a comeback with back-to-back three-pointers. Orlando carried that momentum into the third quarter, where Banchero’s scoring burst helped the Magic take a seven-point lead.
The game remained tight down the stretch, but Oklahoma City regained control midway through the fourth. With Gilgeous-Alexander briefly on the bench, Mitchell scored inside to give the Thunder a 91-90 edge with just over eight minutes left. From there, Oklahoma City executed down the stretch, making key plays on both ends to secure the win.
Despite the victory, Isaiah Hartenstein had a quiet night offensively, going scoreless for the third straight game. However, he contributed in other ways with seven rebounds and eight assists in just 16 minutes.
The loss marked Orlando’s second straight defeat following a seven-game winning streak, showing both their potential and the challenges of maintaining momentum late in the season.
The Thunder will look to extend their streak on the road against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night, while the Magic head to face the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday.
