Jaquez Scores 32 Before Title Game Dash as Heat Erupt for 152 Points in Rout of Wizards

The Miami Heat delivered one of their most explosive offensive performances of the season Saturday night, rolling past the Washington Wizards 152–136 behind a standout showing from Jaime Jaquez Jr., who poured in 32 points before quickly heading to the airport for a family milestone moment.

Jaquez helped power Miami’s fast-paced attack before dashing out to catch a flight to Phoenix, where his sister, Gabriela Jaquez, and the UCLA Bruins women’s basketball are set to face the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball in the NCAA women’s national championship game Sunday.

Miami’s dominant offensive display marked just the third time in franchise history the Heat reached the 150-point mark in a game.

Heat offense erupts early and often. Jaquez set the tone with aggressive scoring from the opening tip, while rookie center Kel’el Ware delivered one of the most complete performances of his young career. Ware finished with 24 points, 19 rebounds and seven blocks, controlling both ends of the floor and overwhelming Washington’s interior defense.

The Heat’s balanced scoring attack also featured, Andrew Wiggins: 21 points, Pelle Larsson: 16 points, and Bam Adebayo: 14 points, nine rebounds, seven assists.

Adebayo, who erupted for an astonishing 83 points in Miami’s previous meeting with Washington on March 10, immediately drew a triple-team on his first possession Saturday night. Though the Wizards made stopping him their priority, his playmaking helped fuel Miami’s offensive rhythm throughout the evening.

The Heat led by as many as 35 points during a game that rarely felt in doubt. Washington received strong individual efforts from Will Riley, who scored 31 points, and Sharife Cooper, who added 20. Still, the Wizards couldn’t keep pace with Miami’s relentless scoring tempo.

The loss marked Washington’s 60th defeat of the season — the third consecutive year the franchise has reached that mark.

Saturday’s performance continued a trend of offensive fireworks in Miami’s matchups with Washington this season. The Heat previously scored 150 points against the Wizards during Adebayo’s 83-point masterpiece and posted 153 points against New Orleans last April 11.

Reaching 150 points three times in franchise history with two coming within the last year highlights the team’s evolving offensive ceiling.

The night also carried emotional significance off the court as the Heat honored longtime public address announcer Michael Baiamonte, who is completing his 35th and final season with the organization. Fans inside the arena gave Baiamonte a standing ovation following the first quarter in recognition of his decades-long presence as the voice of Heat basketball.

The Wizards continue their road swing Sunday with a visit to Brooklyn, while the Heat head north to face Toronto on Tuesday as they look to build momentum down the stretch.
