Seattle once again proved to be a city for electrifying Octagon action as UFC Fight Night came alive at Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday, March 28. For the second consecutive year, fans were treated to a night of high-octane fights, culminating in a main event that left the MMA world buzzing.
The preliminary card set the stage with a series of captivating bouts, but it was the main card where the fireworks truly ignited. Multiple fighters earned impressive finishes, including a fairytale victory for Michael Chiesa, before the spotlight turned to the middleweight clash between former champion Israel Adesanya and rising contender Joe Pyfer.
In a stunning upset, Joe Pyfer delivered the biggest win of his career, stopping Adesanya via TKO at 4:18 of the second round. The two men came out in Round 2 prepared to trade leather, abandoning caution in favor of a fierce exchange in the pocket. Pyfer landed a series of sharp strikes that visibly shook Adesanya, then seized the moment to take him down to the canvas. From there, Pyfer displayed textbook grappling, moving from mount to back mount, flattening the former champion, and raining down the finishing strikes.
The victory marked a milestone for Pyfer, the Dana White’s Contender Series alum, as it was his first main event win in the UFC. Nicknamed “Bodybagz,” Pyfer now boasts a four-fight winning streak and could break into the Top 5 of the middleweight rankings when the next update is released. Saturday’s performance was widely regarded as the most complete showing of his career, combining striking, takedown savvy, and relentless ground control.
For Adesanya, the defeat was a rare setback, but it underscored the rising talent of the middleweight division and the unpredictable excitement that Seattle consistently brings to the Octagon.
UFC fans now turn their eyes toward the next wave of contenders, with Joe Pyfer firmly announcing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the middleweight division.
