Fort Lauderdale Man Killed in Violent Jukebox Dispute at Mexican Restaurant
Fort Lauderdale, Florida — A man was fatally shot early Monday morning after a disagreement over a jukebox song escalated into violence at a Mexican restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. The incident, which took place around 1:30 a.m., began as a verbal altercation between two men and ended with one man dead and the shooter on the run, according to witnesses.
Mauro Bonilla, who spoke with someone present at the scene, recounted that the confrontation stemmed from a dispute over a song selection on the restaurant’s jukebox. “I heard that there were two guys, and they got into an argument because one of them played a song, and the other guy got pissed off,” Bonilla explained. “He pulled his weapon and started shooting.”
According to Bonilla, the man upset by the song choice allegedly drew his gun first. However, the man near the jukebox retaliated, leading to a brief but deadly shootout. “The other guy was chasing him, shot after shot,” Bonilla said.
The man who initiated the altercation was struck by gunfire and died at the scene. The shooter fled the restaurant and remains at large. Authorities are still investigating the shooting and have not yet released the identities of those involved.
Police are urging anyone with information about the shooter’s whereabouts or the circumstances surrounding the altercation to come forward as the investigation continues.
