The Miami Heat ended their four-game losing streak in dramatic fashion on Friday night, securing a 120-111 overtime victory against the Toronto Raptors. Tyler Herro led the way for Miami, scoring 10 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. Andrew Wiggins contributed 25 points, while Bam Adebayo posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
In the fourth and final matchup between these teams this season, Miami became the first road team to claim victory. Davion Mitchell, facing his former team for the first time since being traded earlier this month, put up 16 points, while Duncan Robinson added 14. The Heat’s win marked their first triumph since Feb. 5 against Philadelphia.
Toronto battled back from a 14-point first-half deficit to take the lead in the final minute of regulation. However, a crucial foul by RJ Barrett sent Wiggins to the line for three free throws, which he converted to tie the game at 107-all and force overtime.
In the extra period, Adebayo took control, scoring six points to help Miami secure the win. The Heat had previously been 0-3 in road overtime games this season but found a way to prevail this time.
RJ Barrett led Toronto with 29 points, while Immanuel Quickley had 23 and Scottie Barnes added 13. Rookie Gradey Dick pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds, but the Raptors dropped their sixth game in their last seven outings.
Barnes provided a scare for Toronto fans when he went down with an apparent right ankle injury late in the first quarter. He later returned midway through the second to cheers from the crowd.
With the victory, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra notched his 886th career win, passing the legendary Red Auerbach for third-most wins by a coach with a single franchise. Only Gregg Popovich (1,582) and Jerry Sloan (1,223) have more wins with one team.
Both teams are back in action Sunday. The Heat travel to Milwaukee to face the Bucks, while the Raptors host the Phoenix Suns.
