Miami Man Confesses to Homicide After Grisly Body Discovery Behind Local Bar
MIAMI — In a shocking development that has rattled the local community, Oscar Rivera-Peraza, 35, has confessed to murdering an unidentified man with a metal pipe and leaving his body inside an ice cooler behind the Chicagoan Bar and Lounge in Miami.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the body was discovered last Friday around 3 p.m. in the 10700 block of NW 7th Avenue when bar employees, while servicing the cooler, found evidence of blood both inside the cooler and on the victim’s body. First responders confirmed the victim’s death at the scene, prompting an immediate investigation by homicide detectives.
Investigators were able to link Rivera-Peraza to the crime after discovering fraudulent identification documents left at the scene. On Tuesday, authorities located Rivera-Peraza and brought him in for questioning. After waiving his rights, he provided a full confession, admitting that he had attacked the victim with a metal pipe before placing him inside the ice cooler.
An autopsy performed on Sunday confirmed that the cause of death was due to homicidal violence. Rivera-Peraza has now been booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and faces charges of second-degree murder.
Local law enforcement is urging anyone with additional information or who may have witnessed suspicious activity near the Chicagoan Bar and Lounge to come forward as the investigation continues.
