The University of Miami men’s basketball delivered a statement victory on Saturday, pulling away from Boston College men’s basketball for a convincing 76-54 win fueled by a massive first-half surge and balanced scoring.
After falling behind 13-6 early, Miami flipped the game entirely with a stunning 30-6 run over the final 15 minutes of the first half. The Hurricanes’ defense suffocated Boston College during that stretch, as the Eagles missed 12 of 13 shots and struggled to generate any offensive rhythm. By halftime, Miami had built a commanding 36-19 lead and never looked back.
Tre Donaldson led the Hurricanes with 15 points, while Tru Washington added 14 in a strong all-around effort. Ernest Udeh Jr. anchored the interior with a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Miami continued to extend its advantage in the second half, using a 13-2 run to stretch the lead to 55-31 midway through the period. Reserve guard Noam Dovrat provided a spark off the bench, knocking down four of five shots from beyond the arc on his way to a season-high 12 points. Dovrat has now hit five of his last seven 3-point attempts, showcasing his growing confidence as the postseason approaches.
Boston College was paced by Boden Kapke, who scored 18 points, while Fred Payne and Jayden Hastings each added 11. However, the Eagles couldn’t recover from their prolonged offensive drought in the first half.
With the win, Miami improves to 23-6 overall and 12-4 in ACC play, remaining firmly in third place in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings. The victory also evens the all-time series between the programs at 31-31. With two regular-season games remaining, the Hurricanes are in strong position to secure a top-four finish and a coveted double-bye in the ACC Tournament, set for March 10–14 in Charlotte.
Looking ahead, Miami will travel to face SMU Mustangs men’s basketball on Wednesday before returning home for a key matchup against No. 24 Louisville Cardinals men’s basketball on Saturday.
Boston College, now 10-19 overall and 3-13 in conference play, will try to regroup on the road against No. 11 Virginia Cavaliers men’s basketball on Tuesday before hosting Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s basketball next weekend.
