The party started early and never slowed down in Gainesville as the No. 7 Florida Gators delivered a statement performance, overwhelming the No. 20 Arkansas Razorbacks 111-77 on Saturday night to secure at least a share of the Southeastern Conference regular-season title.
Behind a balanced offensive attack and relentless interior dominance, Florida (23-6, 14-2 SEC) extended its winning streak to nine games, finishing an unbeaten February while inching closer to its first outright SEC crown since 2014.
Florida wasted no time asserting itself, building a commanding lead early and never allowing Arkansas (21-8, 11-5) back into the game. By the midway point of the second half, the Gators had stretched the margin to 30 points, showcasing their firepower on offense and physicality on defense.
Thomas Haugh led the charge with 22 points, while Rueben Chinyelu recorded his 17th double-double of the season, anchoring a dominant effort in the paint. Alongside Alex Condon, Florida’s frontcourt controlled the glass, outrebounding Arkansas 51-31 and dictating the tempo throughout.
The Gators depth also shined. Urban Klavzar provided a spark off the bench, knocking down his first four 3-point attempts en route to 14 points, while Isaiah Brown added 11. In total, seven Florida players reached double figures, including guard Boogie Fland, who made an impact against his former team.
Tensions flared early in the second half when Florida head coach Todd Golden and Arkansas coach John Calipari exchanged heated words near midcourt, resulting in double technical fouls. Assistants quickly intervened to separate the two, while Golden turned to energize the sold-out crowd of over 11,000.
It was one of the few dramatic moments in an otherwise lopsided contest.
The loss matched the worst defeat of Calipari’s career—a 34-point setback against Duke Blue Devils in 2018, when he was coaching Kentucky Wildcats.
Despite the blowout, Arkansas saw strong individual performances. Billy Richmond III led the Razorbacks with 22 points, including a hot start with 14 in the opening 15 minutes. Star guard Darius Acuff Jr., the SEC’s leader in both scoring and assists, finished with 17 points and six assists but struggled to keep pace with Florida’s offensive explosion.
Florida’s dominance goes beyond one game. The Gators have now won six straight games against ranked opponents while scoring at least 90 points in each—a streak that ranks as the second-longest in college basketball history, trailing only the legendary 1989-90 runs by UNLV Runnin’ Rebels and Loyola Marymount Lions.
With ESPN’s College GameDay on hand and a sold-out crowd creating a postseason-like atmosphere, the Gators turned Billy Donovan Court into a celebration. Players donned championship hats and T-shirts, and the team ceremoniously cut down the nets with Golden front and center.
Florida now sits two games ahead of No. 17 Alabama Crimson Tide with two contests remaining and can clinch the outright SEC title Tuesday night at home against Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Arkansas will look to regroup when it hosts the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday night, while Florida aims to finish the job in front of its home crowd as its historic season continues to build momentum.
