Super Bowl LIX Ticket Prices Soar as Fans Prepare for a Costly Trip to New Orleans

Super Bowl LIX is set to take place this coming Sunday at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, and for those hoping to witness the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles battle for the Lombardi Trophy, the price of admission is no small expense.

As of this past Sunday, the price for upper level on Vivid Seats stood at a hefty $3,346, while the median ticket price nearly doubled that number, sitting at $6,304. While Super Bowl tickets are always expensive, this year’s game is actually on the lower end of the spectrum in recent history. According to Vivid Seats, the median ticket price for Super Bowl LIX seven days from kickoff is the cheapest one-week-out median price for any Super Bowl since 2020.

The closest recent comparison? Super Bowl LVII in 2023, where the median ticket price at the same stage sat between $6,304 and $6,433. That similarity makes sense given that Super Bowl LIX is a rematch of that very game, with the Chiefs and Eagles meeting once again on footballs biggest stage.

The high cost of attending Super Bowl LIX extends well beyond the game ticket. Airfare to New Orleans in the days leading up to the event has also skyrocketed, making the trip even more expensive. According to travel marketplace Hoppers Big Game Travel Guide, as of January 28, the average round-trip airfare from Philadelphia was $224. However, for Kansas City fans, the price was far steeper averaging $1,064 per round trip.

For Eagles fans, the trip represents a chance to see their team win its first championship since 2018. For Kansas City fans, the stakes are even higher, as they hope to witness history the first Super Bowl championship three-peat in NFL history.

Despite the steep prices, this years Super Bowl is still relatively affordable compared to recent years. In 2024, when the game was held in Las Vegas, the average resale ticket price reached a staggering $12,128, nearly double the current median for Super Bowl LIX. The change in location may have played a role, as New Orleans does not have the same premium pricing as Vegas.

While ticket prices may fluctuate leading up to game day, one thing is certain: attending the Super Bowl remains one of the most expensive experiences in sports. Whether Eagles or Chiefs fans are willing to pay the price, the stage is set for another thrilling championship showdown.
