The Minnesota Timberwolves continued their winning streak Friday night with a narrow 106-104 victory over the Miami Heat, marking their fourth consecutive win. Balanced scoring powered Minnesota, with Mike Conley, Naz Reid, and Donte DiVincenzo each contributing 15 points.
Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and Julius Randle added 13 points apiece. Edwards, who typically averages 27.5 points per game, attempted a season-low 10 shots, making four. Despite the quieter night, Edwards played a key role down the stretch, splitting a pair of free throws with eight seconds remaining to put Minnesota up 106-101.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker rounded out Minnesota’s balanced attack with 12 points, making him the Timberwolves’ seventh double-digit scorer.
Miami nearly completed a comeback after Duncan Robinson hit a clutch 3-pointer with three seconds remaining to pull the Heat within two points. On the ensuing inbounds play, Conley’s errant pass gave Miami one final opportunity to tie or take the lead. However, Bam Adebayo’s contested 3-pointer at the buzzer bounced off the rim, sealing Minnesota’s victory.
Adebayo led the Heat with a standout performance, finishing with 29 points and 13 rebounds. Tyler Herro added 22 points, while Robinson contributed 15.
Reid delivered a pivotal sequence late in the fourth quarter, draining a 3-pointer with 4:42 remaining to give Minnesota a 98-95 lead — an advantage they never surrendered. Just moments later, Reid extended the lead with a hook shot, helping Minnesota maintain control.
Minnesota avoided being swept by Miami for the first time since the 2016-17 season. The Timberwolves have since swept four series and split three in their annual two-game sets with the Heat.
Miami kicked off a five-game homestand as part of a March schedule that heavily favors home contests. The Heat will play 12 home games this month, including another five-game stretch later on.
Jaden McDaniels shot 6-of-12 from the field, marking his fifth straight game shooting 50% or better.
The Timberwolves will look to extend their win streak when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Heat aim to bounce back when they welcome the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.
