‘Today’ Co-Host Sheinelle Jones’ Husband Uche Ojeh Dies After Battle with Brain Cancer

Sheinelle Jones’ Husband Dies

Uche Ojeh, the beloved husband of Today show co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away following a courageous fight against glioblastoma, an aggressive and often treatment-resistant form of brain cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones in his final days.

Ojeh, 46, was a respected consultant and devoted family man, known for his quiet strength, unwavering support for his wife’s career, and deep commitment to their three children. His passing marks the end of a heartbreaking chapter for the Jones-Ojeh family, who have navigated the harrowing realities of cancer with dignity and grace.

Sheinelle Jones, who has been a staple on NBC’s Today for years, shared the devastating news in a statement:

“Uche was the love of my life, my best friend, and the rock of our family. His strength, courage, and kindness inspired everyone around him. Even in his final months, he taught us how to face adversity with love and grace.”

Glioblastoma is the most aggressive type of brain cancer, known for its rapid progression and limited treatment options. Ojeh was diagnosed last year and underwent multiple rounds of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Despite the grim prognosis, those close to the family say he remained optimistic and deeply engaged with his children’s lives.

The couple met in college at Northwestern University and married in 2007. Over the years, they often shared glimpses into their family life, with Jones regularly expressing appreciation for her husband’s support and love, particularly as she balanced a demanding media career with motherhood.

Colleagues from NBC, as well as friends and fans across the country, have expressed their condolences and admiration for the family’s strength. Today co-anchor Hoda Kotb described Uche as “a beautiful soul who brought light wherever he went,” adding, “Our hearts are broken for Sheinelle and her children.”

In the coming days, the family plans to hold a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, they’ve asked for donations to be made to the National Brain Tumor Society in Ojeh’s honor, in hopes of advancing research into glioblastoma and supporting families affected by the disease.

As Sheinelle Jones takes time away from the Today show to grieve and be with her children, fans and colleagues alike are rallying around her with love, respect, and admiration for the courage she and her husband demonstrated throughout this painful journey.
