The Miami Heat delivered one of their most important late-season performances Monday night, finishing on a decisive 14–0 run over the final 2:36 to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 119–109 and keep their hopes of climbing out of the Eastern Conference play-in range alive.
Tyler Herro led Miami with 30 points, while Bam Adebayo dominated inside with 23 points and 16 rebounds. Pelle Larsson added a breakout performance of 20 points and a career-high 10 rebounds as the Heat improved to 40–36 and strengthened their push toward a higher postseason position.
Miami entered the night sitting ninth in the Eastern Conference standings, essentially tied with eighth-place Orlando. The victory keeps alive realistic hopes of moving into one of the top two play-in spots — positions that would guarantee the Heat two opportunities to secure a playoff berth.
Philadelphia received strong efforts from its stars but couldn’t hold off Miami’s late surge. Joel Embiid finished with 26 points, while Tyrese Maxey contributed 23 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Paul George chipped in 19 points, and rookie VJ Edgecombe added 13 points and five assists in front of a lively contingent of fans from his native Bahamas who waved flags throughout the night in support.
The contest featured multiple momentum swings from start to finish.
Philadelphia rallied from an early 12-point deficit to take a 61–58 halftime lead, then fought back again after falling behind by 15 midway through the third quarter. Miami appeared to seize control early in the second half with a 29–11 burst, but the 76ers answered with a 15–2 response to cut the deficit to two late in the third.
The teams traded punches down the stretch before Embiid’s three-point play tied the game at 101–101 with just over six minutes remaining. Moments later, Embiid drilled a 3-pointer to give Philadelphia a 107–103 lead with 3:22 left — setting the stage for Miami’s dramatic finish.
From there, the Heat took over completely. Miami scored the game’s final 14 points, locking down defensively while Herro and Adebayo powered the offense to seal the comeback victory and energize the home crowd.
The loss dropped Philadelphia to 41–34, leaving the 76ers seventh in the East as the playoff race tightens entering the final stretch of the regular season. Meanwhile, Miami’s late push reinforced its reputation as one of the league’s most resilient teams when the stakes rise.
