USA Dominates Czechia 105-64 to Close FIBA Women’s World Cup Group Play

United States Cruises Past Czechia in Final Group Game

The United States women’s national basketball team closed out group play at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in dominant fashion, overpowering Czechia 105-64. The Americans controlled the game from start to finish, using hot shooting, strong defense and balanced scoring to pull away for a convincing 41-point victory.

Breanna Stewart immediately set the tone for the United States, knocking down a 3-pointer just 51 seconds into the game for the Americans’ first points. Stewart then connected with Napheesa Collier twice for four more points before Jackie Young added another 3 pointer to give the U.S. an early 11-6 advantage.

Kahleah Copper soon joined the offensive surge with a 3 pointer of her own. The Americans’ strong start from beyond the arc provided an early response to their shooting struggles in the previous game against Italy. Although the U.S. cooled off from 3 point range as the game progressed, the Americans remained highly efficient inside the arc, shooting 62% from 2-point range in the first half.

USA Builds a 24-Point Halftime Lead

The United States continued to separate itself from Czechia in the second quarter, with Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers heating up offensively. The pair scored back-to-back baskets late in the half as the Americans carried a commanding 57-33 lead into halftime.

Stewart, Collier and Young each reached double figures during the opening two quarters, combining for 35 of the United States’ points. Stewart also made an impact across the stat sheet, recording six assists and six rebounds while helping the Americans maintain control of the game.

Americans Pull Away in the Second Half

The U.S. continued to extend its advantage in the third quarter. Stewart again opened the scoring by driving into the paint, and after the Americans went nearly three minutes without a basket, she ended the drought with four consecutive points.

Czechia briefly managed to cut the deficit to 20 points with 6:22 remaining in the third quarter, but the Americans quickly answered. The United States responded with an 11-0 run that pushed the lead to 74-43 and effectively put the game out of reach.

From there, the Americans cruised through the remainder of the contest, completing the 105-64 victory and finishing group play on a dominant note.

USA Advances to the Quarterfinals

With the group stage complete, the United States now turns its attention to the knockout round. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10, when the Americans will face the winner of Tuesday’s matchup between Hungary and Japan.

After a convincing performance against Czechia, Team USA enters the quarterfinals with momentum and will look to continue its pursuit of another FIBA Women’s World Cup championship.
