From the opening tip-off, Florida Atlantic’s star players Vladislav Goldin, Johnell Davis and coming off the bench Jalen Gaffney had 14 points, stepped up when it mattered most. Davis delivered clutch shots with 15 points and Goldin executing on the boards with 11 rebounds and 19 points kept the Owls in the lead in the first half. The Owls cohesive effort on rebounding the ball proved to be crucial in navigating Butler’s team and creating scoring opportunities. Florida Atlantic and Butler exhibited a high level of intensity, making it clear that this game was not going to be a walk in the park for either side. The first half saw a back-and-forth battle with both teams trading baskets and displaying impressive offensive and defensive prowess.Butler’s Pierre Brooks made a three point Jumper with 1:00 to go in the first half making it 42-42. The Owls made the final four points of the first half, with Jalen Gaffney making a jumper then Vladislav Goldin made a layup giving the Owls a four point lead at the half 46-42.

Second Half

Butler, known for its resilience, fought hard to regain control and mounted a comeback in the second half. The game reached a fever pitch with 10:00 to go in the second half as both teams traded blows, Butler went on a 7-0 run when DJ Davis made a three point jumper giving them a 67-63 lead. However, Florida Atlantic’s Johnell Davis made a three point jumper, making it 66-67 and difficult to predict the ultimate outcome. On the defensive end, Florida Atlantic displayed tenacity, disrupting Butler’s offensive rhythm and forcing ten steals. The Owls ability to capitalize on these turnovers by converting them into fast-break points and defensive rebounding gave them a significant edge throughout the second half of the game. With 7:30 to go in the second half. Florida Atlantic’s Vladislav Goldin made a jumper to tie the game at 70-70.

Florida Atlantic’s composure under pressure and ability to execute a 21-16 run in the critical moments ultimately tipped the scales in their favor. The final moments of the game showcased Florida Atlantic’s determination to secure the victory.
