49ers Top Seahawks 36-24 Behind Brock Purdy’s Big Night

The San Francisco 49ers secured a 36-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night, thanks to a strong performance by quarterback Brock Purdy. Purdy threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns, helping the 49ers to a win that saw them never trail throughout the game. With this victory, the 49ers, now 3-3, moved into a tie with the Seahawks for first place in the NFC West after both teams experienced an uneven start to the 2024 season.

A highlight of the game was Deebo Samuel’s 76-yard catch-and-run touchdown. Samuel finished with three catches for 102 yards, showcasing his big-play ability for the defending NFC champions. Tight end George Kittle also played a key role, catching five passes for 58 yards and two touchdowns, providing Purdy with a reliable target throughout the game.

The 49ers’ offense was bolstered by Matthew Wright, who joined the team earlier in the week after Jake Moody’s injury. Wright made three field goals in the first half, from 25, 41, and 35 yards, helping San Francisco build an early lead. Kyle Juszczyk added a late touchdown run, and he, along with Kittle, celebrated by jumping into the stands to embrace their wives, who were seated together in the front row.

Despite the loss, Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith put up solid numbers, throwing for 312 yards and a touchdown. However, he was intercepted twice, and Seattle struggled to regain the momentum they had during their 3-0 start under first-year head coach Mike Macdonald. This marked Seattle’s third consecutive loss, with the team now sitting at 3-3.

San Francisco’s win marked their sixth straight victory over Seattle, continuing their recent dominance in this NFC West rivalry. As both teams look to find their footing in a competitive division, the 49ers’ impressive performance in this matchup could be a turning point in their season.
