Rhode Island Man Arrested
A Rhode Island man has been arrested in South Florida on more than a dozen disturbing charges involving child pornography and alleged sexual acts with animals, according to newly released court documents.
Christopher Andrew Jackman, 32, appeared in Broward bond court Saturday morning, where he faced a judge on a total of 13 felony charges. Jackman, who is originally from Providence, Rhode Island, was taken into custody earlier this month following a coordinated investigation involving Florida law enforcement and federal authorities.
According to an arrest affidavit filed in Broward County Circuit Court, investigators were first alerted to Jackman through a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. That tip led detectives to a cloud storage account allegedly linked to Jackman, which reportedly contained numerous files depicting child sexual abuse material. The investigation further uncovered evidence suggesting Jackman had engaged in sexual acts with animals.
Detectives from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in the Fort Lauderdale area where Jackman had been staying. Authorities say they recovered multiple electronic devices containing graphic images and videos that corroborated the charges.
“This is one of the more egregious and disturbing cases we’ve encountered,” said a senior law enforcement official familiar with the investigation. “The evidence collected points to a pattern of deeply troubling behavior.”
Jackman was arrested without incident and remains held in the Broward County Jail without bond. The charges against him include:
-
6 counts of possession of child pornography
-
3 counts of transmission of child pornography
-
2 counts of sexual conduct with an animal
-
1 count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device
-
1 count of promoting sexual performance by a child
During his initial court appearance on Saturday, a judge determined that the allegations were severe enough to justify continued detention without bond, citing concerns about community safety and the potential for additional victims.
Jackman has no known prior criminal history in Florida, but investigators are reviewing records in Rhode Island and other jurisdictions to determine whether similar incidents may have occurred.
The case is being reviewed by the Broward State Attorney’s Office, and prosecutors are expected to present it to a grand jury for possible additional indictments. Due to the interstate and digital nature of the crimes, federal charges may also be pursued.
Law enforcement officials urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and contact the Broward County Sheriff’s Office or submit tips anonymously via Crime Stoppers, as the investigation remains active.
