Amazon Delivery Driver Stabbed Delivering Holiday Packages in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale Man Arrested After Stabbing and Robbery of Amazon Driver

A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing and robbery of an Amazon delivery driver in Fort Lauderdale earlier this month, police confirmed. The attack occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. on December 7 in the 1100 block of Northwest 10th Terrace.

According to Fort Lauderdale Police, the victim, an Amazon driver, was disabled by a flat tire when an unknown suspect approached him, brandishing a knife and stabbing him. The suspect, identified as Curtis Gardner, 33, allegedly stole one of the driver’s personal items before fleeing the scene.

On Monday morning, police arrested Gardner, charging him with felony attempted murder, armed carjacking, and burglary with battery. Police said the investigation revealed the incident appeared to be random and that the flat tire did not appear to be intentional. However, the investigation remains ongoing.

Surveillance footage from a nearby home captured the driver knocking on a door for help after the attack. In the video, the driver is seen inspecting the wound on his side before running off when no one answered the door. He eventually found help at a nearby convenience store.

Store owner Asim Roi recounted the events, saying, “For us, life is first, save a life first, no matter what.” Roi explained that employees immediately called 911 and provided assistance until emergency responders arrived.

The Amazon driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries but was expected to survive. In a statement, Amazon expressed support for the driver and praised the quick response of local authorities. They also emphasized their commitment to the safety of delivery drivers, noting that drivers are encouraged to prioritize their safety and are given 24/7 support, including de-escalation and safety training.

Gardner appeared in court on Tuesday, where he was ordered held without bond. Police in Fort Lauderdale continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
