Anthony Davis has a Twenty Nine Point Night
The Washington Wizards continued their strong offensive performance Monday night, earning a 103-94 road victory over the Orlando Magic behind a dominant effort from Anthony Davis and another impressive performance from rookie AJ Dybantsa.
Davis finished with 29 points, eight rebounds and three steals, leading Washington on both ends of the floor. Dybantsa added 21 points in his third NBA game, while Kyshawn George contributed 22 points and Trae Young finished with 15 points and nine assists. The Wizards shot 53% from the field and overcame an early deficit to hand Orlando its fourth consecutive loss at home.
Young Sparks Washington’s Comeback
Orlando appeared to have control early, building a nine-point lead in the second quarter. However, Washington responded with a decisive 13-2 run, fueled by Young, who scored 10 points during the surge to shift the momentum in the Wizards’ favor.
Washington continued to build its advantage after halftime. Young’s layup capped an 8-0 run that gave the Wizards a 79-68 lead, their largest of the game, after three quarters. The Wizards maintained control down the stretch, preventing Orlando from mounting a comeback and securing their nine-point victory.
Davis, Dybantsa Lead Balanced Wizards Attack
Davis was particularly efficient offensively, making 12 of 17 shots from the field while adding eight rebounds and three steals. His production provided Washington with a consistent scoring presence throughout the night.
Dybantsa continued to make an early impression in his NBA career, scoring 21 points in just his third professional game. George’s 22 points also played a major role in Washington’s offensive success, while Young orchestrated the attack with 15 points and nine assists.
Magic Struggle From 3-Point Range
Franz Wagner led Orlando with 24 points, while Desmond Bane added 20. Jamal Cain and Tristan da Silva each finished with 10 points. The Magic struggled to maintain their early shooting rhythm from beyond the arc. After connecting on four of their first five 3-point attempts, Orlando finished just 11-for-39 from long distance, shooting 28.2%.
Orlando was also dealing with several key absences. Paolo Banchero missed his fifth consecutive game with an ankle injury, while Jalen Suggs sat out his fourth straight game with a knee injury. Anthony Black was held out as a precaution after playing 33 minutes in Sunday’s loss to Boston as the Magic navigated a back-to-back. Washington was also without center Alex Sarr, who missed the game with a knee injury after starting the team’s first six games.
Up Coming NBA Games
The Wizards will return home Wednesday to host the Atlanta Hawks as they look to build on Monday night’s road victory. The Magic will attempt to get back on track Thursday when they travel to face the Phoenix Suns.
