Michigan comes up Roses in Overtime

In a thrilling showdown at the 2024 Rose Bowl, Michigan emerged victorious 27-20 over Alabama in a nail biting overtime battle. The clash between these two college football powerhouse lived up to the hype, providing fans with an unforgettable spectacle.

Game Time

The game began with both teams displaying exceptional skill and determination. Alabama’s offense showcased their trademark explosiveness, when Michigan fumbles a punt at the Michigan 44-yard line. Alabama then goes 4 plays, 44-yards with running back Jase McClellan goes 34-yards for the touchdown giving Alabama an early 7-0 lead. Michigan answered with a 10 play, 75 yard drive of their own, finishing with a J.J. McCarthy completed a 8-yard touchdown pass to Blake Corum, making it a 7-7 tie. The first half concluded with Michigan going 8 plays, 83-yards, with McCarthy completed a 38-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Morris, unfortunately a failed extra point making it a 13-7 lead. Alabama answered with a 50-yard field goal by Will Reichard with 0:07 seconds left in the second quarter. Halftime score was Michigan 13 Alabama 10.

Second Half

Alabama would fumble, Michigan missed a 49-yard field goal with 10 minutes left in the game. After the missed field goal Alabama goes 9 plays, 35-yards finishing with a Reichard 52-yard field goal, putting Alabama up 20-13 with 5 minutes left. Michigan goes 8 plays, 75-yards, the key play was McCarthy completing a 29-yard tipped pass to Roman Wilson to setup the tying score. The drive ended with McCarthy completed a 4-yard touchdown pass to Wilson with 1:34 to go in the game. Michigan 20 Alabama 20.

Overtime

Washington Wins Sugar Bowl over Texas

In another thrilling playoff showdown at the 2024 Sugar Bowl, Washington emerged 37-31 victorious over Texas, capturing the hearts of football fans across the nation. The Huskies showcased their prowess on the field, executing strategic plays and demonstrating exceptional teamwork.

Kickoff

From the opening, both teams displayed remarkable skill and determination. The first half saw intense back-and-forth action, with Washington taking an early lead, only to see Texas answer right back every time. Washington’s running back Dillon Johnson went for a 2-yard touchdown run, then Texas running back Jaydon Blue running for a 5-yard touchdown run, making it a 7-7 tie. The resilient Washington offense scores again, with Johnson running for a 1-yard touchdown, to only be matched with Byron Murphy 1-yard touchdown run. Texas 14 Washington 14. With 6 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter Washington went 9 plays, 76-yards, finishing with Michael Penix completed a 29-yard touchdown pass to Ja’Lynn Polk, giving them a 21-14 lead. Texas scores with 0:17 seconds left in the second quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run by C.J. Baxter, making the halftime score 21-21.

Second Half

As the game progressed into the second half, Washington’s offensive line seized control, orchestrating three impressive drives that left the Longhorns struggling to keep up. Washington’s quarterback Pendix completed a 19-yard touchdown pass to Jalen McMillan, then kicker Grady Gross made a 26-yard field goal, with the start of the fourth quarter kicker Gross made another 40-yard field goal. Washington 34 Texas 21 with 14:51 to go in the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter saw Texas go 10 plays, 72-yards as quarterback Quinn Ewers completed a 1-yard touchdown pass to Adonai Mitchell, making a 34-28 Washington lead. Washington would kick a 27-yard field goal by Gross, making it a 37-28 lead from the Huskies. Texas would add a field goal with 1:12 remaining in the game making the score 37-31, Texas would get one last chance as they went 9 plays, 56-yards, to only come up short when a 4th & 11 pass to Mitchell was incomplete. The crowd erupted as the Huskies secured the win over Texas.
