Dodgers Kyle Tucker Has Big Night

The Los Angeles Dodgers continued their torrid run Friday night, extending their season-best winning streak to eight games with a 6-2 victory over the Miami Marlins at loanDepot park. Kyle Tucker delivered the biggest blow of the night, hitting his sixth career grand slam while falling just a double short of the cycle as the Dodgers strengthened their position atop the National League West.

Tucker Powers Dodgers’ Offensive Attack

Tucker immediately made an impact, singling in the first inning before driving in Tommy Edman with a deep sacrifice fly later in the frame to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead. The Dodgers added another run when Will Smith delivered an RBI single, putting Los Angeles ahead 2-0.

Miami answered in the bottom half when Agustín Ramírez lined a run-scoring double to cut the deficit to 2-1, but the Marlins could not generate enough offense to keep pace with the Dodgers.

Tucker broke the game open in the seventh inning. Victor Vodnik retired Alex Freeland and Enrique Hernández to begin the inning but then walked Tommy Edman and Mookie Betts. Max Muncy followed with a single to load the bases, setting the stage for Tucker.

Facing Cade Gibson, Tucker worked the count to 1-1 before crushing a sweeper to right-center field for a grand slam and a 6-1 Dodgers lead. The blast was Tucker’s sixth career grand slam and completed an impressive night in which he recorded a single and triple in addition to his sacrifice fly and homer. Muncy also played a major role in the victory, finishing with three hits and a walk, while Smith contributed three hits and an RBI.

Snell Delivers Another Strong Start

Blake Snell continued his strong season on the mound, earning the victory to improve to 4-1. The left-hander allowed one run on four hits while striking out eight over 5 2/3 innings.

Snell kept the Marlins from putting together sustained rallies and handed the Dodgers a lead that their offense eventually turned into a comfortable victory. Ryan Gusto took the loss for Miami, falling to 1-5 after allowing two runs on five hits over his outing. He walked three and struck out three. The Dodgers added another run in the eighth when pinch-hitter Owen Caissie lifted a sacrifice fly, extending the advantage to 6-1.

Marlins Struggle During Losing Streak

Miami’s offense produced some bright spots despite the loss. Otto Lopez collected four hits, while Javier Sanoja had a triple and a single. Ramírez also provided one of the Marlins’ biggest offensive moments with his RBI double.

Caissie’s sacrifice fly accounted for Miami’s final run, but the Marlins were unable to mount a serious comeback against the Dodgers’ pitching staff.

The loss dropped Miami to seven defeats in its last eight games and extended its current losing streak to four. The Marlins will look to reverse their recent slide when the series continues Saturday.

Dodgers Introduce Top Prospect Josue De Paula

The game also marked the major league debut of Dodgers top prospect Josue De Paula. The 1-for-3 performance came after Los Angeles called him up to fill the roster spot of Shohei Ohtani, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right biceps inflammation.

De Paula’s debut gives the Dodgers another young offensive option as they navigate Ohtani’s absence while attempting to maintain their momentum during the second half of the season.

Saturday’s Series Matchup

The Dodgers will send right-hander Tyler Glasnow to the mound Saturday. Glasnow enters the matchup with a 4-0 record and a 3.12 ERA.

The Marlins will counter with right-hander Tyler Phillips, who is 5-6 with a 3.51 ERA. First pitch will give Miami another opportunity to slow down a Dodgers team that has now won eight consecutive games.
