Florida Panthers Cruise Past Toronto Maple Leafs 6–2 Behind Big Nights from Eetu Luostarinen and Mackie Samoskevich

The Florida Panthers snapped a four game skid in emphatic fashion Saturday night, rolling past the Toronto Maple Leafs 6–2 behind balanced scoring and multi-point efforts from Eetu Luostarinen and Mackie Samoskevich.

Luostarinen and Samoskevich each finished with a goal and two assists as Florida built an early lead and never relinquished control, continuing its recent success against Toronto following last spring’s playoff triumph.

Florida wasted little time setting the tone, jumping ahead 2–0 in the opening period with aggressive forechecking and crisp puck movement that kept the Maple Leafs on their heels. The Panthers extended the advantage early in the second when Tomas Nosek struck for his first of two goals on the night, pushing the margin to three.

Toronto responded midway through the second period behind William Nylander, who converted on a power play opportunity to spark the visitors. Nylander added another later in the frame to cut the deficit to 3–2 entering the third, briefly giving the Maple Leafs life.

That momentum didn’t last long. Samoskevich restored Florida’s two-goal cushion early in the final period, finishing a strong offensive sequence to make it 4–2. From there, the Panthers tightened defensively and sealed the win with empty-net tallies from A.J. Greer and Nosek, who capped his two-goal night while also recording an assist.

Cole Reinhardt also contributed offensively with a goal and an assist as Florida’s depth lines played a major role in the victory.

In net, Daniil Tarasov turned aside 17 shots for the Panthers, delivering a steady performance to help halt the team’s recent slide. Toronto goaltender Joseph Woll made 19 saves but couldn’t prevent the Maple Leafs from dropping their fifth straight game.

Despite both clubs sitting outside the playoff picture, Saturday’s matchup carried echoes of last season’s postseason meeting, when Florida eliminated Toronto in seven games during the second round before going on to capture its second consecutive Stanley Cup championship.

Florida, which entered the night one spot ahead of Toronto in the overall NHL standings at 26th, used the victory as a confidence boost heading into the final stretch of the season.

The Panthers return home to host the New York Rangers on Monday, while the Maple Leafs will look to snap their losing streak when they welcome the Dallas Stars.
