Davie Police Investigating Possible Hit-and-Run After Woman’s Body Found on Road
Davie, FL – Police are investigating a possible hit-and-run after a woman’s body was discovered on a roadway early Friday morning. Authorities responded to the 2500 block of South Flamingo Road just after 6 a.m. following reports of a person lying in the middle of the road.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the woman unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead shortly afterward. The victim’s identity has not been released, and no further details about a vehicle involved in the incident have been provided at this time.
The incident is being treated as a suspected hit-and-run, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their search for potential witnesses or surveillance footage.
Residents of the area expressed concerns about the safety of the intersection where the incident occurred, describing it as a dangerous stretch of road. Many neighbors said that speeding is a common issue, with accidents occurring frequently.
Traci Lynn, a local resident, shared her experience. “It’s almost every other week that I see an accident, and when I don’t see one, I notice debris left from previous crashes,” she said. Lynn recounted a close call she had while walking her dog, explaining how she no longer crosses the road due to the high speeds of passing vehicles.
“I stopped walking across the road because there’s no way—it’s too dangerous. Cars start flying down the street, and even after they’re far down the road, they’ll still honk at you,” she added.
Other residents echoed similar concerns, with some calling for stronger traffic control measures in the area. “Cars really are flying, especially around 5 p.m.,” said Estrella Cerqueira, another local resident. “Honestly, a traffic light would be the best solution.”
As the investigation continues, Davie Police are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact them.
