Jaguars Bounce Back With Dominant 35-6 Win Over Chargers in Week 11

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence found himself in an unusual locker room moment Sunday—posing for a photo with punter Logan Cooke and long snapper Ross Matiscik. The reason? The special snapshot commemorated their first game without a single punt, a perfect symbol of one of the most enjoyable victories of Lawrence’s Jacksonville career.

The Jaguars (6-4) delivered a statement performance, rebounding emphatically from the franchise’s worst collapse just a week ago in Houston, where they blew a 19-point fourth-quarter lead. This time, Jacksonville played with fire and precision, thumping the Los Angeles Chargers 35-6 at home.

The Jaguars’ balanced rushing attack set the tone early. Travis Etienne, Lawrence himself, and rookie Bhaysul Tuten all found the end zone on the ground. Lawrence added a 1-yard touchdown pass to Tim Patrick in the fourth quarter, giving Jacksonville a comfortable cushion. Etienne’s second touchdown came after Antonio Johnson returned an interception 43 yards, sending visiting Chargers fans toward the exits in frustration.

The Chargers (7-4) never got their offense going. Traveling across the country for an early start and possibly looking ahead to their bye week, Coach Jim Harbaugh’s team was a no-show. Los Angeles finished with just 135 total yards and eight first downs. Justin Herbert, who was sacked twice and pressured repeatedly behind a makeshift offensive line—including new left tackle Trevor Penning making his debut—managed only 10 completions on 18 attempts for 81 yards. Harbaugh eventually pulled Herbert with the game out of reach, turning to backup Trey Lance for the final 11 minutes.

Adding to the celebrations in Jacksonville, defensive end Josh Hines-Allen broke the franchise’s all-time sacks record. With a takedown of Herbert in the second quarter, Hines-Allen notched the 56th sack of his career, surpassing Tony Brackens’ record that had stood since 2003. Hines-Allen, who acknowledged feeling the pressure to reach the milestone, received a standing ovation from the home crowd and heartfelt congratulations from his teammates and coaches.

Jacksonville will look to carry this momentum on the road against the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday. The Chargers, meanwhile, will use their bye week to regroup before hosting the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 30.

For the Jaguars, Sunday was a reminder of their potential: a confident, balanced attack, a stifling defense, and a locker room full of reasons to smile—even if it includes a rare photo request for a punter and long snapper.
