Bob Myers, president of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, even appeared on Paul’s Game Over podcast alongside Max Kellerman to make a public recruiting pitch.
Behind the scenes, president of basketball operations Mike Gansey, who has known James since their high school days in Northeast Ohio and worked with him during his second stint in Cleveland, maintained consistent communication with Paul’s camp throughout the process.
Philadelphia’s current stars also played a major role. According to ESPN, Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and newly acquired Jaylen Brown all reached out directly to James during free agency.
Maxey, who shares representation with James through Klutch Sports, reportedly spearheaded the recruiting effort. He has often referred to James as a “big brother,” making the relationship a natural bridge between the future and one of the greatest players the game has ever seen.
The result is a star-studded lineup that instantly becomes one of the NBA’s most intriguing championship contenders.

The 76ers have experienced repeated playoff heartbreak throughout Joel Embiid’s tenure.
Their deepest postseason run came in 2019, when Kawhi Leonard’s unforgettable Game 7 buzzer-beater for Toronto bounced multiple times on the rim before falling, ending Philadelphia’s season in one of the most dramatic finishes in NBA history.
Despite multiple talented teams, the franchise has been unable to return to the NBA Finals. James arrives hoping his championship experience, leadership and postseason pedigree can finally push the Sixers over the top.
Philadelphia is hardly unfamiliar territory for James. As a junior at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, he played at the historic Palestra on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania against Strawberry Mansion High School, giving him an early taste of one of basketball’s most passionate cities.
