Marchand’s Hot Streak Lifts Panthers Past Golden Knights 3-2

Brad Marchand is aging like fine wine — and playing like he’s still in his prime. The 37-year-old forward extended his goal streak to five games and moved within striking distance of a personal milestone, leading the Florida Panthers to a 3-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday night at T-Mobile Arena.

Marchand scored his sixth goal in five games and added an assist, bringing his career total to 998 points — just two shy of the 1,000-point mark. He’s now within one game of matching his career-long seven-game goal streak set back in 2016.

Jesper Boqvist and Sam Reinhart also found the back of the net for Florida, while defenseman Donovan Sebrango notched two assists. Sergei Bobrovsky was sharp in goal, turning aside 30 shots to secure the Panthers’ second win on their four-game western road trip.

For the Golden Knights, Tomas Hertl and Ivan Barbashev provided the offense. Barbashev remained hot with his fourth goal in four games and added an assist, giving him six points over that span. Rookie goaltender Carl Lindbom made 17 saves but remains winless (0-3-1) in his young career.

Lindbom hasn’t had it easy — his first four NHL starts have come against Tampa Bay (twice), Colorado, and now Florida, three of the league’s most dangerous teams. The 21-year-old Swede carries a 3.25 goals-against average and an .869 save percentage through those outings.

Despite outshooting Florida 32-20 and generating eight high-danger scoring chances to the Panthers’ five (per Natural Stat Trick), the Golden Knights couldn’t solve Bobrovsky in the clutch moments.

One of their best chances came early when Mitch Marner deked Bobrovsky out of position, but his shot sailed over the net — emblematic of Vegas’s frustrating night.

The Golden Knights, who have dropped to 1-3-1 on their current six-game homestand, have struggled to find their championship form on home ice.

The matchup was a reunion of the past two Stanley Cup champions — Vegas defeated Florida in 2023, while the Panthers have since gone back-to-back in 2024 and 2025. This time, it was Florida who looked like the reigning kings of the NHL.

The Panthers return home to Sunrise having split their four-game road trip (2-2) and will host the Washington Capitals on Thursday. The Golden Knights will look to rebound when they welcome the New York Islanders to town, also on Thursday.
