Memorial Day is coming soon.  Many use the day to have a cookout, drink some beers, have friends and family over, go out on the boat for some fishing and have an amazing weekend.  Something we should not forget though is the history of Memorial Day which falls on Monday, May 30th.

Memorial Day is when we remember those brave men and women who have fought and fallen for this country that we now live in.  Without the bravery of these soldiers who fought for us and our freedoms, this holiday would not exist.  So, make sure you have a moment of silence for those who came before us and celebrate responsibly.  Have your friends and family over for that cookout and reminisce about the good ole days and enjoy the starting of summer.

If you are lucky enough to live in or are traveling to Fort Lauderdale for Memorial Day weekend you will have no shortage of ways to celebrate the holiday this year.  It is almost like everyone is trying to make up for lost time since our country was on lockdown for about two years.  You can take a stroll to any of the local beach access points or rent a room in a luxurious hotel.  You and your family can stay busy all weekend by eating at local beachfront restaurants, go fishing off the pier and see what life is like under water with scuba diving adventures.

Hollywood Beach has numerous places for you and your crew to venture to whether you are a party of five or a party of thirty.  There are numerous restaurants to eat at if you don’t feel like cooking (or can’t cook!), shops to spend your hard-earned money at for souvenirs for your northern friends, and a plethora of outdoor activities to keep you and your family busy while taking in the scenery.  You can try your luck at roller skating, riding a Segway or bicycle if you want to get around quick without having to use your vehicle.  You even have opportunities to rent paddleboards, jet skis and fishing equipment.  There will be something for everyone to enjoy in sunny Fort Lauderdale on Memorial Day weekend.

Being out on the beautiful water is how most spend their Memorial Day weekend.  If you do not own a boat, there are many places where you can rent one for the day, a few hours, or the entire weekend.  There are places that will charter the boat with a full crew so you do not have to do anything but have fun!  If you are lucky enough to get a boat for the weekend, there are numerous things for you to enjoy.  If the boat is big enough, they will usually have watersports that come with the boat, luck snorkeling, jet skis, water trampolines, wake boarding, paddleboards and some even have water jet packs for you to try!  Your captain will also be able to take you fishing with top of line gear.  The crew can guide you if you are not an experienced fisherman.  If you just want to relax and take in the sites as you float by on the boat, the waterways in Fort Lauderdale offer amazing sights to see from mansions to dolphins and manatees.  There will be no shortage of water activities for you to enjoy this weekend.  To rent a boat for Memorial Day weekend, click here.

If outdoor activities are not your cup of tea, you can always relax at your hotel.  Local hotels have pools for you to sit next to and sip on your favorite cocktails.  Most hotels now offer DJ’s that will play new and classic favorites for you to enjoy.  Hotels even offer pool floaties so you can be in the pool, relaxing and sipping on your favorite drink with a tiny umbrella.  Don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen!

After you are well rested from your poolside events of the day, head out to one of the local breweries for a refreshing sip of locally brewed beer.  For most breweries, they allow kids and pets so you will not have to worry about finding a sitter for your babies.  While you are at the breweries, you can also enjoy game nights, trivia hour, exquisite food, and live music to dance to.  If staying in one spot is not for you then you should participate in the Pub Crawl with Cycle Party or even rent a party boat.
