Miami-Dade Woman Arrested for Allegedly Planting GPS Trackers on Victim’s Vehicle
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman from southwest Miami-Dade has been arrested and charged with aggravated stalking after allegedly planting two GPS tracking devices on the vehicle of her friend’s husband’s mistress, according to authorities.
The suspect, Lourdes Garcia Mesquida, 53, was first spotted on September 14, walking around the victim’s white 2022 Chevrolet in the area of 12010 SW Eighth Street. According to the arrest report, she was seen placing an object underneath the vehicle.
The following day, the victim, suspicious of the activity, inspected her car and discovered a Spytec GPS tracker attached to the underside. After removing the tracker, the situation escalated when Garcia Mesquida was again seen near the same vehicle on September 18, this time placing another unknown object under it. A witness confronted her, and she claimed she was there on behalf of a friend who had been cheated on.
Authorities said the second incident was also captured on surveillance video, and a witness recorded the confrontation. The victim’s boyfriend, who is married, identified Garcia Mesquida as a friend of his wife.
Police were alerted, and Garcia Mesquida was arrested on Tuesday. She was charged with aggravated stalking and remains at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond. Police said she invoked her rights and declined to provide a statement.
This case remains under investigation as authorities examine the evidence, including surveillance footage and witness testimony.
