Marcus Jordan, Son of NBA Legend Michael Jordan, Arrested for DUI and Drug Possession in Florida
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Marcus Jordan, son of basketball icon Michael Jordan, was arrested early Tuesday morning and booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of driving under the influence (DUI) with property damage, possession of cocaine, and resisting an officer.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by local authorities, the 34-year-old former University of Central Florida athlete and current boutique shoe store owner in downtown Orlando was taken into custody after a series of events that began with a traffic stop initiated by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and ended with his vehicle stranded on railroad tracks in Maitland.
Incident Details
Maitland Police officers responded to Greenwood Road, where they discovered a blue Lamborghini SUV with its headlights on but not moving. The vehicle was positioned on the railroad tracks, with its tires partially buried in dirt and rocks. Officers noted that a train was approximately 10 minutes away from the area.
Authorities made contact with Jordan, who repeatedly asked for assistance in getting his vehicle off the tracks, claiming he had made a wrong turn. However, police noted that the same vehicle had just fled from an earlier traffic stop. Officers observed that Jordan exhibited signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and a strong smell of alcohol. He also appeared confused about his location.
Marcus Jordan admitted to officers that he had been drinking at multiple venues in Winter Park and Casselberry earlier that night. Law enforcement conducted field sobriety tests, which he reportedly failed. He was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI.
Drug Possession and Resisting Arrest
During a search following his arrest, officers discovered a clear plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance in Jordan’s pocket. Subsequent testing confirmed it to be cocaine.
Jordan was described as uncooperative during the arrest, allegedly pulling away from officers as they attempted to escort him to the patrol vehicle. He further resisted by refusing to enter the car and preventing officers from shutting the vehicle door by sticking his leg out.
Transport and Release
While en route to the Orange County DUI Center, officers reported that the odor of alcohol intensified inside the vehicle. Additionally, Jordan was reportedly singing throughout the transport, and his speech remained slurred.
Once at the DUI Center, Jordan refused to provide a breath sample and was ultimately booked into the Orange County Jail. He posted bond later Tuesday morning and was released just before noon. Jordan did not make any public statements as he left the facility.
Legal Proceedings Ahead
It remains to be seen how the legal case against Jordan will unfold. DUI and drug possession charges carry significant penalties in Florida, including potential fines, license suspension, and possible jail time. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether Jordan will enter a plea or seek legal counsel to contest the charges.
This arrest adds to Marcus Jordan’s history of run-ins with the law, as he previously faced a disorderly conduct charge in 2012. As the case progresses, further details may emerge regarding the full circumstances of his arrest.
