Darian Mensah Throws for 338 Yards and Three Touchdowns

No. 6 Miami closed out a perfect September in dominant fashion, rolling past Central Michigan 52-3 on Saturday night behind another nearly flawless performance from quarterback Darian Mensah.

Mensah completed 23 of 27 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing score, helping the Hurricanes improve to 4-0 and enter October unbeaten for the fourth consecutive season. All four of Mensah’s touchdowns came during a second-quarter explosion that turned the game into a rout.

Mensah Continues Remarkable Start

Mensah connected with Malachi Toney six times for 120 yards and a touchdown, while Cooper Barkate and Daylyn Upshaw also caught touchdown passes. Mensah’s 5-yard touchdown run capped a 97-yard scoring drive late in the second quarter, giving Miami a commanding 35-3 halftime advantage.

Despite throwing four incompletions, Mensah continued to post remarkable efficiency numbers. His season completion percentage dipped slightly to 88.7% after entering the game at 89.9%. Through four games, he has thrown 14 touchdown passes against just 12 incompletions without an interception.

Miami’s offense continued to find ways to produce even with one of its top playmakers sidelined. Running back Mark Fletcher Jr. missed the game with an upper-body injury, but coach Mario Cristobal indicated that Fletcher should be available for next week’s game at Clemson.

Miami’s Offense Keeps Rolling

Javian Mallory and Chris Wheatley-Humphrey each added rushing touchdowns for Miami, while offensive lineman Jamal Meriweather was credited with a touchdown after recovering a fumble in the end zone.

The Hurricanes controlled the game from the opening minutes and turned a competitive start into a one-sided contest before halftime. Miami’s defense limited Central Michigan’s offense throughout the night, while the Hurricanes’ passing attack continued to operate at an exceptional level.

Central Michigan, which fell to 2-2, turned to Jadyn Glasser off the bench at quarterback. Glasser completed 13 of 15 passes for 88 yards, but the Chippewas struggled to keep pace with Miami’s explosive offense. The Hurricanes also celebrated a significant piece of program history during halftime, paying tribute to Miami’s 1991 national championship team during a special ceremony.

Hurricanes Turn Attention to Clemson

Miami now turns its attention to its first game of October and one of the most significant tests of its young season. The Hurricanes will travel to face Clemson on Oct. 3, with the status of Fletcher Jr. among the storylines heading into the matchup.

Central Michigan will also return to action Oct. 3 when it hosts Akron. Miami’s 4-0 start has been fueled by Mensah’s efficiency and a balanced offense, and the Hurricanes will look to carry that momentum into conference play after completing another undefeated September.
