Quietly, Tiger Woods Seeks Rehab Overseas for Opioid Addiction

There has been a ton of media speculation about Tiger Woods and what is going on. Tiger is trying his best to keep things private. One way to make sure of privacy is to do things overseas. And it seems that this is exactly what he has done. To this point, we don’t know for sure, but it does seem like this is the case. Let us explain.

A private jet owned by Tiger Woods landed in Zurich, Switzerland, on Friday, April 3rd. Many have deduced that this is a sign of where the PGA Tour legend will seek treatment following his DUI arrest in Florida. It has not been reported whether Woods was on the plane.

As you probably know, Woods was arrested on March 27th by Martin County Sheriff’s deputies on a DUI charge after he crawled out of his rolled-over vehicle following a two-vehicle crash on Jupiter Island, where he owns a home.

Woods was released from jail eight hours later on a tiny $1,150 bail.

During his altercation with police, Woods refused to submit to a urine test following the wreck. Martin County sheriff’s deputies said Woods was not under the influence of alcohol, but they determined he was impaired at the time of the rollover crash.

Deputies said Woods was “sweating profusely” and “lethargic and slow” while speaking. They also observed Woods’ eyes to be “bloodshot and glassy” and his pupils “extremely dilated” as he spoke with officers. A search of Woods’ pants pockets revealed two hydrocodone pills, a strong opioid painkiller used to treat severe pain.

On Tuesday, March 31st, Woods entered a not-guilty plea filed by his attorney, Douglas Duncan. On April 1st, Martin County Judge Darren Steele approved a request by Duncan for the golfer to begin “comprehensive inpatient treatment” outside of the country.

Duncan’s motion argued that Woods needs an urgent level of medical care, and receiving it abroad will allow him to complete it in privacy.

So why Zurich, Switzerland? Zurich has multiple drug and alcohol rehabilitation and mental‑health treatment centers, ranging from hospital‑based programs to ultra‑luxury private clinics. The possibility of where Woods has settled gone narrows down to more than likely two programs.

Paracelsus Recovery is one of the most renowned. Its website states that it is an exclusive rehab facility, noting “Decades of experience helping ultra-wealthy clients, with the privacy, exclusivity, and personalised care you (they) are accustomed to.”

The Kusnacht Practice is another Swiss private treatment center in the Zürich area. Its website describes itself as “a world-renowned private treatment center dedicated to mental health and addiction.” It also says, “By integrating evidence-based care with the latest advancements in psychotherapy, medical treatments, and longevity science, this collaborative approach ensures you receive the highest possible chance for recovery, healing, and prevention.”

The question is, will this really help Tiger Woods? Hasn’t he done the “rehab” thing before? It doesn’t seem like it has worked our for him. Well, it is true. Woods has entered multiple rehabilitation programs throughout his career.

In 2010, Woods checked into a Mississippi rehab facility for sex addiction treatment and his misuse of Vicodin and Ambien. Vicodin is a prescribed pain pill. And Ambien is a prescribed sleep medication.

2010 was stop number one. Woods then completed a rehab program in 2017 (stop number two) to treat his dependence on painkillers after he was found asleep at the wheel of his car in Jupiter.

Fast forward to now, and the fallout of this latest disaster. Woods said on record that he will be taking a step back from golf to focus on his health and get treatment.

“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return to a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time,” Woods wrote on social media.

Woods’s attorney filed a motion arguing that Woods needs an urgent level of medical care, and receiving it outside the country will allow him to complete it in privacy. Thus, the Swiss plane landing.

Besides Woods and his attorney, there is one other person who had a major say in what would happen with Tiger, and that is Vanessa Trump. Woods has one final chance to save his relationship with Trump and has to get his upcoming rehab stint right if he wants to keep her, according to multiple sources close to the couple.

A source close to the pair has revealed Vanessa’s make-or-break rules if Tiger wants to keep her. She had specific criteria he had to follow. It has to be a real rehab. From the doctors to the counselors. She set a hard line for Woods. Fix this, and fix it permanently. She’s requiring all of this, and it is non-negotiable.

Another source close to Vanessa commented about the rehab center he was to attend, and how Vanessa doesn’t want it to be a bull[expletive] country club. She’s not looking to send him off to boot camp, but the rehab has to be tough love. It has to work. Long-term. Vanessa is only giving one chance for this stuff. This is it. She won’t do this again.
