The Raptors Scottie Barnes 28 points and RJ Barrett’s 25 points
The Toronto Raptors delivered a commanding performance Wednesday night, cruising to a 129-99 victory over the Orlando Magic behind Scottie Barnes’ 28 points and RJ Barrett’s 25 as they opened a two-game series between the teams. Barnes added six rebounds and four assists, while Barrett contributed nine rebounds and six assists to help Toronto improve to 3-1 on the season.
The Raptors controlled the game on their way to a 30-point victory, showcasing a balanced offensive attack and contributions from several players throughout the lineup. The teams will meet again Friday night at Scotiabank Arena, with the rematch counting as an NBA Cup game.
Barnes and Barrett Lead Toronto’s Offensive Charge
Barnes spearheaded Toronto’s attack with an efficient all-around performance, combining his scoring with playmaking and rebounding to keep the Raptors in control. Barrett complemented him with 25 points, nine rebounds and six assists, giving Toronto a powerful one two punch on the offensive end.
With both players producing across multiple statistical categories, the Raptors found consistent ways to generate offense and pull away from Orlando. Ja’Kobe Walter also made the most of his opportunity in the starting lineup, scoring 14 points and grabbing five rebounds in place of Kawhi Leonard, who sat out while recovering from swelling in his left knee.
Leonard was not on the Raptors’ bench for Wednesday’s game. Backup point guard Jamal Shead provided another important contribution off the bench, finishing with 13 points and seven assists. His production helped Toronto maintain its offensive rhythm and provided a spark for the Raptors’ second unit.
Da Silva Leads Magic in Defeat
Orlando struggled to keep pace with Toronto’s offensive production, falling to 1-3 on the season after the lopsided loss. Reserve forward Tristan da Silva led the Magic with 20 points, providing a bright spot for an Orlando team that could not generate enough scoring to challenge the Raptors.
Franz Wagner finished with 15 points, five assists and four rebounds, but the Magic were unable to overcome Toronto’s balanced attack. The 30-point defeat leaves Orlando searching for answers ahead of Friday’s rematch, when the Magic will have another opportunity to respond against the Raptors.
Raptors Look to Carry Momentum Into NBA Cup Rematch
Toronto will look to build on Wednesday’s dominant performance when the teams return to Scotiabank Arena on Friday for their NBA Cup matchup. The Raptors have started the season strongly at 3-1, with Barnes and Barrett establishing themselves as key offensive leaders. Contributions from Walter and Shead also demonstrated Toronto’s ability to find production beyond its top scorers, particularly with Leonard sidelined.
For Orlando, the focus will be on tightening its defense and finding more consistent scoring to avoid another difficult night against Toronto. With the NBA Cup contest next on the schedule, the Magic will have a quick opportunity to turn the page, while the Raptors will aim to extend their winning momentum.
