The Toronto Raptors continued their late-season surge Tuesday night, cruising past the Miami Heat 121–95 behind balanced scoring and a dominant stretch in the first half that flipped the game decisively in their favor. The victory strengthened Toronto’s push toward a guaranteed Eastern Conference playoff berth while locking Miami into the play-in tournament for a fourth consecutive season.
Scottie Barnes led the way with 25 points, Brandon Ingram added 23, and Jakob Poeltl chipped in 17 for the Raptors (44–35), who moved within one game of idle Atlanta in the race for the No. 5 seed. Toronto also maintained a one-game cushion over Philadelphia (43–36) for the sixth and final automatic playoff spot in the East.
RJ Barrett contributed 16 points and Jamal Shead provided a spark off the bench with 11 assists, helping keep the offense flowing throughout a wire-to-wire second half performance.
A pivotal 19–2 Raptors run in the first half transformed a two point deficit into a 13-point advantage, and Toronto never looked back. From that moment on, the Raptors controlled the tempo, spacing the floor effectively and limiting Miami’s offensive rhythm.
Toronto also improved to 13–4 against Southeast Division opponents this season and is now closing in on its first playoff appearance since 2022 an important milestone for a team that has steadily gained momentum down the stretch.
Miami (41–38) struggled to keep pace throughout the night, dropping its ninth game in the last 12 contests and slipping closer to being locked into the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference standings.
Andrew Wiggins led the Heat with 24 points, while Tyler Herro and Norman Powell each finished with 14. Bam Adebayo who erupted for an 83-point performance against Washington last month was limited to just seven points on 2-for-14 shooting in one of his toughest outings of the season.
The loss leaves Miami in a difficult position heading toward the postseason. The Heat likely need to win their final three regular-season games to have a realistic shot at improving their play-in seeding for the second straight year.
The Raptors also improved to 3–0 against Miami this season and now have a chance to complete a rare season-series sweep when the teams meet again Thursday in Toronto.
Toronto has swept Miami only twice before during the 2007–08 and 2018–19 seasons and another victory would mark a strong statement as the Raptors continue their climb up the Eastern Conference standings.
With playoff positioning tightening across the conference, Thursday’s rematch could carry even greater significance for both teams as Toronto pushes upward and Miami fights to stabilize heading into the play-in round.
