Raptors Rout Slumping Magic 139–87 Behind Barnes’ Career Night and Barrett’s Scoring Surge

The Toronto Raptors delivered their most dominant performance of the season Sunday night, overwhelming the Orlando Magic 139–87 behind a balanced offensive attack and a historic playmaking effort from Scottie Barnes.

RJ Barrett scored 24 points and Barnes added 23 points along with a career high 15 assists as the Raptors unleashed a stunning 31-point run and never looked back, handing Orlando its seventh loss in the last eight games. The victory improved Toronto to 42–32 and kept the club firmly in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings, with the top six teams earning automatic playoff berths.

Barnes’ performance continued a remarkable stretch of playmaking. The All-Star forward has now recorded at least 10 assists in four straight games, further cementing his role as the engine of Toronto’s offense during a crucial late-season push.

Sandro Mamukelashvili added 19 points off the bench, while rookie guard Jamal Shead chipped in 12 points and 10 assists to help orchestrate one of the Raptors’ most efficient offensive showings of the season. Toronto’s biggest lead ballooned to 126–70 after AJ Lawson buried a 3-pointer midway through the fourth quarter, highlighting the sheer dominance of the night.

Orlando briefly showed signs of life early. Jalen Suggs knocked down a 3-pointer with 6:35 remaining in the opening quarter to give the Magic an 18–11 lead. But that momentum evaporated quickly as Toronto responded with a devastating 27–2 run to close the period and seize total control.

Turnovers proved fatal for the Magic. Orlando committed 12 giveaways in the first quarter alone, leading directly to 14 Toronto points. By the end of the night, the Raptors had converted 28 Orlando turnovers into 37 points, a decisive factor in the blowout.

The Raptors’ scoring barrage didn’t stop there. After Paolo Banchero made a jump shot with 5:30 left in the first quarter, Orlando failed to score again until Banchero connected with 9:42 remaining in the second. That basket finally ended Toronto’s remarkable stretch of 31 unanswered points.

Desmond Bane led Orlando with 17 points, while Suggs added 13 and Tristan da Silva finished with 12. Banchero, coming off three straight 30-point performances, struggled mightily, shooting just 3-for-14 from the field and finishing with nine points.

Toronto dominated despite missing several key contributors. Brandon Ingram sat out for the second time in four games with a sore right heel, joining Collin Murray-Boyles (back spasms) and Immanuel Quickley (right foot) on the sidelines. Even short-handed, the Raptors’ depth and ball movement proved overwhelming.

The victory also continued Toronto’s strong play within the division structure of the conference, as the Raptors improved to 12–4 against Southeast Division opponents this season.

Orlando had snapped a six-game losing streak with a win over Sacramento on Thursday but quickly fell back into trouble against a Raptors squad firing on all cylinders. The Magic finished the night with just 31 made baskets and never recovered from their disastrous opening quarter.

Both teams return to action Tuesday night. Orlando will host Phoenix, while Toronto heads to Detroit looking to maintain momentum as the playoff race tightens.
